Starter motor upper mounting bolt?

I've been trying for the past 2 hours to see, find, smell, touch and maybe one day - extract the starter motor upper mounting bolt. (diesel). Yes I have Arctic's otherwise impeccable How To (https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=227316) but even he has obviously had trouble photographing it. Is there a better pic anywhere in the universe please?

PS A maybe obvious tip but I couldn't shift the lower mounting bolt till I tied the 15mm ring spanner with a piece of cord, in case it slipped off and dropped into the undertray - and with no means of crawling underneath as it's not on ramps - I then wedged a long bit of wood against the spanner and hit it with a mallet. That did the trick.

Hi Dave.
You may have to move the wiring conduit away a little before you can get the 13mm deep socket onto the bolt head, it also carries the earth strap, you can also follow that to find it ;)

Do you have an auto? If so then you won't be able to see the bolt.

Use a short extension, slide it in place by feel, undo the bolt and leave it and the socket and extension where it is, then tighten it once the starter motor is back on.

Simples......with a bit of luck! :getmecoat:

Dead right there. But found it at last. While many say "just follow the earth lead," mine for some reason is reversed from Arctic's pics so I couldn't see it. It wasn't till I removed the silver metal concertina tube (from the EGR) that I could at last actually see the bolt (B) deep below the one marked A which has a green paint dab on. I needed a 9 inch socket extension to reach it. Pic below. This is the most hidden bolt I've ever come across - but no doubt there are more delights to come.
