Is this a different version of the spare wheel bolt holder thingy ?

Or have they got the wrong item for the wrong car ?

I thought it was a plastic cog type affair.

Your correct, we have a cog wheel, don’t know what this retainer had come from and I dismantle plenty of different cars :shrug:
