engine noises after shutdown

just got my mg zt, a great car, however when I turn the engine off the gremlins keep some little motors whirring for a short time what are they and where are they getting the electric power from?

Check your Vis motors, they are supplied with power for around 5 mins after ign off. If the Vis motor has a failed final drive inside then the motor inside the unit will run untill the ECU cuts the power.

Simple to check if it is them just unplug them and see if the noise stops. If it does leave disconnected until you replace them.

thanks dave tried that noise stops i think its some right next to the vis? motor, towards the driver, can I leave the vis unplugged? and still drive ok? there is still other strange noises the car is a 2003 with 88000 kilometres on the clock nice to drive very pleased

After you switch the ignition off, there is a standard whirring noise for about 5-10 seconds. This is completely normal.
If there is a problem with VIS, they will keep whirring until the ECU power cuts it off minutes later.

One on the side is the balance one. You can leave it unplugged with no damage being done but your car will not be running at its optimum power or economy capabilities. All it will do is log a fault code.
If it is the sound like a scalectrix motor then it is an internal problem with the Vis, if it is more of a rhythmic rotating sound it is the flap behind the Vis that has sheered off.
Either way needs sorting long term. ;).
