Car power banks, any Good reports?
Hi, now the colder weather is here I was wondering what the members thoughts and reports are of the power banks?
If there worth having as a backup, what size would turn over a diesel, would a 400 cranking rate be sufficient ? Thanks in advance for any replies. Dave. |
A colleague has one and said it was very good value and works well.
Unfortunately a few weeks ago it failed to work on another colleagues flat battery. I stepped in with my jump leads. One fail in about 15 uses is not bad. I just think he did not have it charged. I must ask him what make it is. |

We use the NOCO GB70 at work, its been in constant daily use for over a year now (without any issues to ecu's) and starts most cars when the battery is flat.

I bought one a couple of years ago and it was well worth the money. As far as power the one I have started a Jensen Interceptor with a flat battery ( he had left the lights on), the owner of the car was so impressed he went out an bought one.

I bought one of these on Amazon 18 months ago after being caught out when my battery totally packed in overnight.
Haven't had to use it on my car yet but it started up my mates 2.2 litre diesel first turn no problem at all and showed a 1% battery usage afterwards. I seem to recall the accompanying blurb mentioning that it would start up a 6.5 litre diesel and there are plenty of YouTube postings showing people starting up those huge American diesels that have been lying in a scrapyard for years with the same unit, I keep it in the boot just in case, its got a couple of USB power points, a torch and flashing breakdown lights and the display tells the % of battery left and after every 6 months or so that I have checked it has held about 98% of the original charge. They have shot up to £119.00 on Amazon I see which is way more than I paid but are about what I paid on Ebay at the moment at about £65. To be honest I would have thought that if this doesn't provide a bit of security that you will still be able to get going with a flat battery then you need a breakdown company anyway.
