How many of you caravan owners use pressure washers to clean your caravan?

Trying to keep busy and do the regular caravan maintenance, I'm in two minds on whether to use the pressure washer on the caravan. :getmecoat:

I normally use a 2m extending wash brush, sponge and hose pipe, but that sure does take some hard work going up and down ladders etc. She is a large beast to keep clean being a 23ft Bailey, plus it doesn't help that we live under trees, so you can imagine how green she can become if I don't keep on top of it.

She is a good girl, she doesn't leak and I'm certainly not wanting to cut any corners by damaging the seals by blasting the old girl with the pressure washer, but I'm sure tempted to run the pressure washer over her for a quick and easy fix. :D

What do you guys do?

Ditto - a pressure washer is far too violent for a caravan to my way of thinking. There's far too much sealant which can be damaged by the jet - seams, joints and skylights. To be honest, I would rather leave the top of the 'van a little less than clean, rather than risk a pressure washer on it :}

Watch the wheel arch liners Wes, I used to mould them and I know how brittle they are!!

I pressure washed an owners van and they complained that the washer had lifted paint. I didn't see any damage at the time so we thought they were trying to scam us and get a freebie. Saying that, a pressure washer IS severe and certainly has the power to damage any unsound paintwork dried or cracked by the sun.

As above, don't. The joints on a caravan are known for leaking water, you certainly don't want to spray water under pressure at the joints. Sorry mate, do it by hand

No to pressure washing!!

I use waterless wash and polish twice a year -spring and autumn.

This leaves -After a few applications - a smooth finish to all the panels that easily wipe off time after time even the green winter build up on the roof.

It also protects the windows and surrounding seals .

Some caravanners swear by Showroom shine or Silky, I can vouch for both as being very good.

I seem to be the odd one out here.

I’ve been power washing my caravan for 10 years and never had a leak.
It’s no different to a caravan travelling down the motorway at 60mph in the rain.

Obviously you don’t direct the jet into the fridge vents or panel seams.
I even power wash the underside at least once a season.

I use the pressure washer on mine. I use the soap dispenser on first, then sponge or brush it in finally rinse off with the lance but with pressure slightly reduced. I always use it for cleaning the moss out the draught skirt rail, cleaning the wheels and the roof. Never had any problems yet. The van always comes back with virtually zero damp report when it goes for service. I guess if you have a reasonably new caravan or a really old one it would be an issue.
