Shame about the distance my wife would have the 4th one down without blinking an eye..... shame you're not going to Harewood... would have taken it off you

If you are thinking of adopting a rescue cat or kitten, get in touch with your local Pdsa or Cats Protection and they will let you know where your local rescue centres are :}
I suspect just like our rescue centre at the moment, it's always full as there are unfortunately so many unwanted cats and kittens!
There are vouchers available from various animal charities to get your cats neutered for around £10.00 but still peeps don't bother.
Makes me mad but that's a whole other thread for another part of the forum!

Here's another photo of him...

Thanks for your kind words and all your continued support Phil,
It is much appreciated :bowdown:

If anyone would like to help out however small, click on the Crescent Cat Rescue link at the bottom of my signature.
This helps with the ongoing costs for food and veterinary care.
Many thanks :}

No problem Jeff. It might help the cause if you could tell us the history behind the cats and the kittens, as I know it is not just room and board or tender loving care which keeps them going. When you have time Jeff, please do say.

If you go onto our website and hover the mouse over the pictures on the adoption page Ros writes a description of the cat or kitten, any details of how they came to be with us and their temperament ( good with children, other pets etc )
Usually when I take the photos they have only just arrived and I don't have that information as Ros compiles it later when the pictures are uploaded onto the website and the details have come in.
You guys get a first look, usually before they are on the website;)
Most of the kittens to be honest are born at the rescue because Mum got pregnant and the owner then decides to give Mum up for adoption along with the unborn litter!
Please anyone reading this take a look at the website as it will give you an insight into how things work at the rescue, plus you get to look at cute Puddy Tats:}

Thanks Paul,

It can be hard getting creative in a six foot by four foot pen sometimes:eek:
Depending on the cat I can let some out into the run which makes my life a bit easier;)
Makes a change from racing cars though:D

Looking forward to seeing some of your photos again as they really do inspire me to get out there and try and be a bit more creative:bowdown:

Seriously, sitting back and waiting for the right moment.
Letting them smell and get used to the camera equipment so they become familiar with it and also the sound of the shutter actuations .
A dangly toy and a laser dot can be used to get their attention as well;)
Mostly though it is making a fuss of them so they see you as a friend then sitting back and waiting.....patience is a virtue so they say:D

We do indeed, some cats that come in to us have social issues or have recovered from medical conditions etc. The policy of the rescue is to give every cat a chance, even those that may not be suitable for re homing under normal circumstances:}

Carole said I could have my pair for a third off the donation, but looking at all the good work that goes on there in my one and only visit was very impressive. Toca and Tilly came litter trained, full of health (on the best food for them) and well cared for, not to mention wormed and flead. Almost priceless. One of the funniest things we get told is from the volunteers who help run the Crescent Cat Rescue charity shop in Walton On The Naze.

Our two BC's go absolutely bananas when there is a cat about, yet whilst in a bit of a lean to at the back of a restaurant, there was a cat laid in a baby buggy not more than a foot from their noses, for the best part of 10 minutes, with neither bothering.

At home, there is a cat which taunts them both from just across the street. This evening I especially took notice...

There they were yapping away at it from behind the gates, there the cat was calmly sat on the opposite pavement just staring at them, which I've seen it doing often. This evening it sat there unmoving for 20 minutes.

Steve42 2nd August 2014 23:08

Very loud cats. And not frighted of anything.
The one in the photo is a male. Seen him attack dogs.
Gsd that went for him cat didn't run but went for the dog. And the dog lost
Had the police come round. Bloke reported it.
Also very clever cats. Had to change some taps in the house as he would turn taps on if they was the lever type.

Good news is that Toca and Tilly's sibling is going to a new home this week.

Fantastic Photos Jeff :bowdown: :D, I'm glad you're 160 Miles from me, I'm trying to resist the urge to get another cat, had one just disappear 10 years ago (never did find him) another was put down in 2009 and the last was put down last year. I find the heartache that comes with losing them unbearable.

Maybe one day though....

I can fully understand that Jeff. When my wife goes to the Vets to pay a bill for stuff done to the horse they bring out cats and kittens for Den to see in the hope that she will take home another. We've already had 3 from them, 2 from CPL and 1 from Blue Cross. You would not believe the cost of the pet insurance each month.

It is not cheap pet ownership, I guess that's why we are seeing more and more puddy tats handed in to the rescue:shrug:

PaulPJ 9th September 2014 07:11

Exactly right. If insurance was more affordable then there would be less unwanted pets. Our oldest cat Smokey is 18 and has numerous problems and is one 4 different tablets a day and some of those are expensive and we pay MoreThan £52.00 per month for her alone. We dont think twice about paying it as she is part of the family but it is not cheap.

I sometimes wonder if people realise the cost involvement in having pets.
Just like children, if you can't afford their care and welfare should you really be having them.
There is no state 'pot' to pay for them unlike kids:o

A few people get upset when they find out that the adoption process is quite involved and does ask questions of the persons suitability to home a cat!
There are very good reasons for this though and it is the charities duty of care and responsibility to that animals continued welfare.

PaulPJ 9th September 2014 10:02

I agree whole heartedly. At the end of the day it is the wellbeing of the Cat or Dog that is at stake. Must be why we have so many.

trikey 9th September 2014 18:58

Instead of paying for insurance, why not put the money away each month in an isa or similar, if (Hopefully) Nothing happens you have a nice purse to collect ;)

A very cute tease indeed.
My wife says she wants to load up the car with wet and dry cat food and bring it over to your rescue centre. I did point out its a 360 mile round trip and that it would need to be arranged but she wants to do it at some point. We are always limited for time what with the tablet regime for 2 of the ladies and a horse that needs putting to bed but she will get her wish.

That's a very generous gesture from the both of you,

If you do decide to do a 'road trip' and want to say hello at the same time Ros and I are at the rescue centre on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons usually:}

Here's another Ginger who came in with his brother ( not Ginger ) they are both a bit confused at the moment but will feel better after a few days of being made a fuss of!

Lovely pics as usual Jeff and cute to boot but wouldn't a small surgical procedure both in dogs and cats help to reduce numbers of strays and neglected animals. You do an excellent job trying to remove pets I know and its very laudable but control might be a better solution don't you think. Shame yo didn't make the Star meeting it was a great day and when Stu turned up in Alison the day was complete, perhaps next month no littlebchef sadly but the food is good or bring own tuckbox

Been too long see you

Not sure I follow you Mike as all the adult cats that come to us are spayed/neutered as a matter of course unless already done before reaching us.
Kittens can't be done as they ideally need to be at least six months old but it is always the rescue centres policy to home cats responsibly and to explain the benefits of neutering to people.
The thing is though, we end up with as many as we do because there are so many people who take on animals with no financial abilities for their welfare.
Then when the cat gets pregnant it ends up being handed in to us because the owner can't cope/afford the veterinary bills etc:o
The government don't hand out welfare money for pets!

The other thing that drives us all mad is those breeding cats ( not registered ) and selling the kittens on Facebook!
Half of these are in-bred and come with their own particular health issues:mad:

That's what we are up against each and every day I'm afraid!

Sorry I couldn't make the meet as I was working, next month I'm at the Kings Lynn meet :)

I have some American friends in Virginia who lost their cat recently and are wanting another so I emailed Jim a link to this thread to make them see what they are missing out on. It's kinda worked as once he retires early next year they are moving to Fort Worth and I have been told that the first thing they are going to do is go to the SPCA and get another kitten.

More kittens have arrived at the rescue!
Love them to bits but you do dispair sometimes:eek:

This is Ash, he has been the subject of other photos on here.
He's named Ash as he is partial to tree climbing, in this case a Pear tree;)

Not my greatest shot Steve,
Missed the focus on it as I have focused on the branch just in front of little Ash:duh:

coolcat 18th October 2014 08:00

Will be a flying visit to the cat rescue this afternoon as I'm going out this evening to meet up with some other members on here for dinner:drool4:

I'll see what photos I can grab in my quick visit;)

coolcat 27th October 2014 05:35

A few from this Saturday:}

Left my camera gear at home and took the photos using my new iPhone 6.

Can't get very creative with it yet but it was very snappy at achieving focus and exposing the shots well;)
