v6

Hi everyone, i am thinking of buying a v6 2.5 and was wondering if anyone can give some advice I have a diesel 75 at mo but my daily commute mileage is less now and even tho i love the diesel she is looking a bit scabby round the edges. What do i look for thats specific to the V6 models and what kind of mileage can we look at on a V6 engine.

Regards

Chas

Best thing you can do is read this, takes you through the advantages/disadvantages of all engine variants. Chapter 10 covers the V6.

Look for coolant leaking into the V (take off the acoustic cover to have a look). Normally only the result of the thermostat housing O-rings failing but looks sufficiently terminal if you want a bit of leverage on price. Remember that the coolant needs to be checked and re-filled in its own special way. Be prepared to pay between £500 and £700 for the belts to be changed and do not be tempted to skimp in this department. Don't expect more than about 25mpg under normal use unless you do a lot of long distance.
