Cdti starter motor
Had trouble with starter motor got it working by tapping it a few times, decided on the repair kit for a £10 , have to say it was fine for a few weeks but tonight let me down again, fortunately I’ve swooped over the one off my manual saloon on to the auto tourer, is there anything else I can do myself to the failed starter or do I get a refurbished unit
Many thanks Les |
Does It work off the car ??
When you say---failed again----what were the symptoms ?? |
Starter
When it failed before if I remember correctly you could hear a clicking but it wouldn’t engage or turn over , give it several taps with an iron bar and if you was lucky it would work , replaced copper terminals etc in repair kit was fine thus time it failed out of the blue fortunately on the drive , not a noise from the starter motor , as I mentioned swapped it for the one on my saloon fired straight away didn’t see any point in trying it off the car

Time for a new one I reckon.

I am sure you can find used in decent condition for not that much money. |

However the failure the second time could be something simple like the supply to the small tag on the motor itself. Changing over to a different motor could have corrected a bad contact.--- That's why I asked if it worked off the car. You might be searching for another starter motor with no good reason.---:duh: |
Starter motor
Far play I will try it on the saloon when I get time still waiting for front lower arm bushes to arrive
Where to get a new one if required prices seam to vary from £120 too £220 on eBay for what are the same denco starters |
