Not bad for the first go.

Just had a go at doing my head liner. I removed it months ago and it’s been slowly driving me mad. So l dug it out of the garage gave it a clean and stuck the stuff on.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3c7fc1177a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5f1c0101f8.jpg

Looks good, well done for giving it a go, horrible scratchy stuff behind the material isn’t it.

Bolin 15th April 2019 17:36

What is the scratchy stuff?

Something similar to glass fibre?

Makes my hands itch, I wonder if I'm allergic to it, but I'm not allergic to glass fibre:shrug:

I wouldn't want to do the job to the itchy stuff, so well done on getting it recovered:}

Well done, that is a job I don't envy you in undertaking.

Pretty sure its a form of glass filler used in the polyurethane foam backing of the headlining, it teats your skin exactly the same as glass fibre.

Yes it feels like it I clean it mouths ago with a wire brush and that was pain full it felt like I had loads of pins in my arms. It does look that way trikey even just picking up from the garage it got on to my hands.

I used to work for a firm that distributed glass fibre insulation. We were told to wash in cold, soapey water after handling it. The ends of the microscopic fibre strands pierce and stick into your skin (which makes you itch). The cold water makes the strands brittle and they then break off in the washing process, the bits in your skin just fall out or grow out as your skin grows and sheds. I didn't believe them at first but after fibreglassing a loft, tried the cold shower routine and it worked a treat. The secret is to wear gloves, goggles and full body coveralls in the first place! ;) (not in the shower - Doh!)
