diesel thermostat

Hi everyone my name is Martin and i am new to all this so please bear with.
I Know its a well known and much discussed issue regarding the the thermostat sticking open in the diesel engines, hence my engine runs cool with luke warm heater. Just wondering if there is a better quality one that can be put into the housing, as i dont really want to use the remote in hose one, even though people seem to have a good result with them, i would rather stay standard knowing its a lot of work to change it.Am i mad to want to do this?

Nothing wrong with keeping it standard, i don't know of any other stat that fits, a new oem item will work well and last for years.

Enjoy fitting it, it can be tricky the first time :D

When refitting, I find it easier to locate the top lh bolt first (Probably just me, but worth remembering)

They don't usually stick open - as they age they tend to open at too low a temperature.

As I understand it, they open too early and close too late, once you get a working one in it makes quite a difference, I went for replacing the original rather than the modded inline one.
