Left Hand Drive - Rover 75

Ok folks, im not in a rush for this but im after a LHD Rover 75.

http://www.forum-auto.com/uploads/20...mgr_021137.jpg

My in-laws live in Germany, Austria, France so we starting to plan regular trips over on the ferry.

This time we are taking my RHD 75 but a LHD car for continental drives would be very handy. And yes, I know, im mad for a car id use only twice a year for a few thousand miles, but thats just me. ;)

Im 100% unworried about spec, transmission, colour, saloon/tourer however I have only two requirements

Car must be a diesel (makes the trip affordable on the long drives)
Car must have aircon car (else my wife will complain!)

If anyone has a car already in the UK/ROI they plan to sell in next few months please keep me informed or inmind!

Cheap as possible, few dents / dings / marks are perfectly acceptable I will no doubt upgrade the car anyways.

Colin, how about looking for one over here in France? You would have a lot more to choose from. And I don't think registering it in the UK would be any problem...

Well im trying to keep costs to a minimum, shipping one over to NI/ROI will be 400 euros minimum from France on the ferry.

With the HMRC Customs Fee of about £50, book an MOT on VIN and a DVLA registration fee of £55 before I tax it also. Also needs to be 2004 or younger when coming from France / Germany.

Suddenly im looking at £600-700 before ive bought the car! :duh:

If there was a car in the UK or ROI it would be perfect as it would save me the time and hassle as you can imagine, plus I know someone on the club could check the car out for me etc.

Makes sense. Well good luck in your search, I reckon finding a LHD one in the UK is not totally impossible. In any case, should you change your mind, I could happily have a look for you in France. Just a thought ;-)

If you know of any good sites where I can look and judge prices that would be great.

If you look on autotrader there are a couple of companies that specialise in LHD cars. Sorry can't remember the name but they are there.:}

found one http://www.heathrowlhdcentre.com/

Colin, the leading classified ads website in France is called LeBonCoin.
www.leboncoin.fr
Specifically for car ads, I regularly check two : www.lacentrale.fr and www.autoscout24.fr
These are probably the two most important ones.

If you want to check out 75 trims, know this : Classic is known as plain 75 (quite rare in France), Club is called Pack, and Connoisseur is Pack Luxe. Most you'll find are Clubs...

I can see myself saving for a while and bringing one here myself to be honest, I passed one in Belfast last week on polish plates and tried to double back and chase them but lost them on the dual carriageway!
