precision components inline housing stats
have had this housing fitted for approx 2 1/2 years; the initial stat failed very quickly, i replaced it with a qth107, temp rating 93 deg; this stat has a bleed indent in the flange, and i only acheived 93 deg showing on the obd by driving hard!! i replaced it with another qth107 - same result - the expansion tank is warm at 83 deg !!.
can someone suggest an alternative; the stat has a 54 mm flange. regards |
Have a look at this thread re the Renault inline stat
http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=74451 or this one, although it may take you a week to read it :Snow: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=68468 |

STANT which is rated at 205F (96.1C) but I found it ran a bit hot for my liking. |
I have a Precision Components housing and the stat in mine is 91 degree C.
I got it from "DoctorCarParts" it has no bleed hole and runs my car between 84 and 105 degree C depending on conditions. The part No. is Thermostat FT104.92 Cheers, Pete. |
My first stat died within a week, replacement has been in 3 weeks and again beginning to leak past at way under 88 degrees (viewed by the obd) just wondering if retailer has a dodgy set of Stats.A Question to someone who knows where is the temp sensor situated? before or after the OEM stat placement? Would this make any difference to the temp showing on the OBD and when the inline stat opens??

I was a bit vague, mine is an inline stat by precision components,my question about the sensor location you have answered thank you(i was just interested on location for reference) and now i know, my question on the stat placement is immaterial.problem i have is that warm up is still taking an age (even with inline stat fitted) But with OBD temp showing 70 degrees both sides of the top hose where the stat is fitted are hot (its an 88 degree stat) and even when the FBH fires up and is working temp gets to about 75-78 degrees and then sinks back to 70-72 degrees(this because the FBH stops) then rises again as the FBH kicks in again.Would fitting a hotter stat help? I am stumped to be honest and getting more than a little fustrated.

In a working diesel system it would reach the rated 88C and above when the engine is working hard but would fall to around 83-84C when cruising. 70-72 C is too low. So,if you have an 88C stat fitted it should be replaced. |
