London Accommodation

My son has just received news of his Internship placement next year - it is with Lloyds Banking Group in London, Red Lion Court London SE19.
I havn't a clue of how to go about looking for some accommodation for him - the pros and cons etc. I was wondering if anyone had any experience/contacts etc. Other than this I guess I will be searching the Internet for a few days!
If anyone does have any ideas, I will be basically looking for 2-3 bedroom flat in the London SE19 area as a one or two of his mates from uni also have placements in London.
I have 10 days before I go back to sea to sort this one out :panic: Any ideas/agents etc etc gratefully appreciated.

Confirm you mean SE19 as in Crystal Palace and Gipsy Hill areas of London......

Or do you mean SE1 9EQ as in Red Lion Court in the City.

If as I suspect the latter, you may well be worth looking at somewhere a bit further out and costing that and travel against renting nearer a central location.

It would probably work out cheaper somewhere on the main London Bridge line and him travelling in.

As above you would get a better flat be looking just outside London, with more for your money. better place to live
I live in hertfordshire trians into Liverpool street in under a hour.
try looking at the transport for london web site for ways to get into work.

Yes it is the Red lion Court in the City.
As you say I need to look at costs involved/travel etc. I would really prefer "on the doorstep" so as to speak so I know my son will get to work on time!!! :D

Does really depend on budget and requirements.
I have a colleague who has a 3 bed property in that area that he rents,
it is a very nice property but maybe not suitable for students,
but that is £1590 Per Calendar Month (£2000 Deposit) Plus Council Tax (Not cheap) etc.
If suitable I can obtain details.

I think my lad will be exempt from the council tax as a student  - the deposit is a bit of a blow (2k ) but then I am juggling with figure of around £150 a week each (3 of them) so the £1590 pcm would fall in to that category. Have you any more details exact location etc John - Any ideas on water rates  - Cheers

I must have trawled through 5 million flat adverts for London flats since I started looking - (perhaps slight exaggeration). I had short lists for this agent and that agent.........then when you ring up you get "oh they are all gone" or "not available yet"!!!! At best I have got one or two possibles from 2 agents - going to London on Monday to check them out. If all these flats are gone or not available why don't they remove them from the site
