Photgraph need some help starting out.
 

So a while ago I got a new camera and tried to get into photography as a hobby... I watched lots of videos on YouTube ect and read lots of things online but to be honest I found 90% of it just confusing or contradictory.. So I just stuck my camera on auto and went from there, I love my camera and now want to try again at getting to grips with it. I have looked in my area for maybe a night class on photography but there is nothing that suits my needs. Could a member on the forum maybe point me in the direction of a good solid online course that would take me from the very start to coming off auto and working everything myself... I don't mind paying for a course ( as long as it's not an arm and a leg ) as long as it is well put together and fits my ability and needs.. I look at some of the pictures on this forum and feel sure that somebody here may be able to help me out... Thanks for any help or advice. :}

What Camera do you have ? that would be a good start to get help ?

I’m across in fife and I’d be more then happy to meet up with you and give you help and advise. I’m a photographer from here so I can try and help. :}

I can highly recommend this (free) course which I did a while back. It's extremely well written and very informative. The title says it all really, "Shoot Off Auto In Six Weeks." You get one lesson a week, each devoted to a particular subject (aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc) and a weekly project to help you get to grips with each.

Self teaching is more than doable, trial and error is often the best way and there is plenty of literature online that explains what everything does. Firstly, take it of Auto and put it in P mode, thats like a semi automatic setting that will do most of the work for you.

I dont mind writing a few posts to get you started, what camera is it that you have?

I should have put that down, It's a Canon EOS 1300D, I like it a lot.

That's a very kind offer, I may just take you up on it if I cant make any progress.
