second motor

i bought this as a donor today for less than 200 quid, its better than first thought. the lad i bought it off said the battery was not holding charge something about the radio causing it ...? anyhow i drove it home and apart from the exhaust blowing everything seemed fine. got it home checked the plenums ,the one nearest the passenger wing needed clearing others fine. The wheels could do with cleaning, bit of water getting in around the rear number plate lights. will have another dig round tomoz sure to be something else, the problem now is do i get it through an mot or use it as a donor..?

Could be a good 'un with a bit of luck , fingers crossed it is for you 👍
|
I quite like it, seems to have a bit of genuine character 👍
|
Looks like it once had an owner who cared for it enough to do a bit of detailing to the grille and under the bonnet. Maybe their taste was a bit questionable (imo) but it's the thought that counts. :D

Is it Bacchus supatallic?

you,ve lost me there pal

That looks like it's got the makings of a good motor, be a shame to scrap for something so minor as a battery drain.
Just chuck it in for an MOT and see if there's anything major wrong with it, if not a quick tidy up, some decent wheels and that will look great. |
Looks good for that amount of cash, you could get that back on steering wheel and gear knob, grill Etc.

That is a beautiful car!
How can people in the UK sell it for under 200 pounds?!! Like mentioned before.... The steering wheel + walnut gear knob + selling the car to a scrapyard = already more than 200 pounds. If i were you i would MOT it and keep the car! The paint looks in excellent condition. |
Hi,what a coincidence I also bought a Damsen Red Connie SE as a donor but also it is too good to break, although not bodywise as shiny as yours,V6 2•5,X reg, only done 56,000,failed on rear suspension arm, still awaiting my attention.Unbelievingly it is sitting on the same type of alloys as yours is.RegardsRy....

been out to it this morning started up first time. i took the radio out to have a quick look, wires everywhere ,some dodgy looking connections which i,ll have a look at later( most of the wiring for the after market radio that came with the car by the look of it), took the boot plinth off to see where the rain was getting in , the plastic light holder in about 5 pieces, sealed that with some silicon as a temporary fix. When it stops raining i,ll get under car to see where exhaust is blowing and i.ll put some more pics up. looking more like a keeper

Car looks lovely!! + non faded walnut steering wheel, walnut gear knob, walnut fascia upgrades, real walnut dash?...what more do you need!
|
Lovely colour, wheels look like aftermarket Scooby wheels, possibly Rota's??
|
cheers Kev, yes proper walnut dash
|
i,ve no idea what wheels they are Gordy...klw on the centres
|
think i found the previous owners battery draining problem , a small light strip hidden way up behind the glove box, always on. wheels could do with a refurb although they clean up ok. started to sort radio wiring out will get that sorted tomoz when i find my soldering iron.
|
Love the colour no so on the wheels but that grill is ace,if you've got the room it looks well worth saving
|
still undecided about the wheels myself Russell, been rearranging front garden so i can fit 3 motors on it, hedge might have to come down but thats not a problem
|
Just caught up with this Roy wow what a beauty definitely a keeper looking forward to seeing :}
|
The more i look at it the more i'm sure that's been a member's car at some point :)

after spending yesterday sorting front garden out think i will get the wiring for the radio sorted. started up first time again this morning, no sign of battery drain. Hoping to have her road legal for the Elsham Hall meet

after much thought and talking nicely to the missus the decision has been made to keep her. i have sorted nearly all the little niggles over the past couple of months and dropped the rear sub frame today , which came off quite easy but definitely needs sorting.
|
today i got the damson back on the ground after spending 10 month on blocks, refurbed subframe back on. She needs a new exhaust and new boots on each corner. Stared her her first time no bother sounds brill even without a back box. Tried to put some pics up but keep getting download failed, will try again later :}
|
Sounding more and more like £200 very well spent.
Enjoy keeping her. Andy. |

That car looks really good, underneath looks clean. I wouldn't scrap/dismantle it.

Changed a few things under the bonnet today, no happy with battery lid so that will be changed when I do the air filter box 😀 had her running for a bit discovered that I've got to replace lower engine mount, no worries though and exhaust on order getting closer to getting her back on the road 😁Attachment 78648Attachment 78649
