looking at buying a 2.0 v6 auto
 

What kind of things do I look for when purchasing a 2.0 v6 auto? What specs would a cowley connie be with personal line interior?

If you don’t need to go anywhere quickly, they are a nice smooth drive, personally the lack of get up and go puts me off a bit.

I’d be looking for petrol stations ! My first 75 back in 2001 (BU51ZZM) that I owned for two years before trading her for my tourer that I still own, only returned 239 miles to the tank in every day use but could manage 400 on a careful run. Lovely creamy smooth engine and a nice sound though however you’d have to give her a prod to get moving due to the poor torque so that would probably explain her thirst for only a 2 litre.

Loosing along and giving the beans to get somewhere isn’t an issue for my as I have a 1.0 Austin metro 😂

The 2 litre V6 is soooo smoooth, but fuel consumption worse than the 2.5, and takes an awful lot of winding up. I wouldn't bother, it will be much slower than your Metro!

Water leaks, vis function and fan operation! Make sure it runs and sounds nice otherwise they are fairly reliable units.

As above with regards to getting one though, either get a 2.5 or don't bother if your dead set on a v6. Otherwise the 1.8t is a good compromise and quicker in many scenarios and much easier to look after. Not a lot in it economy wise either.

Recent belt change otherwise will cost you £550. You'll be lucky to get much better than 23mpg poodling round town - but it is very smooooooth.

I love my 2.0 manual :} It's got 150 bhp , and a set of gears if you want to move smartly so more than enough for my needs . Head gaskets last for ever and it doesn't eat engine mountings :getmecoat: And it is super smooth , but I would agree that if you want an auto then get the 2.5 ; the extra helps with an auto .

Oh.. and watch out for the cam snapping, some 2.0V6s have been known to do this.

It all just seems a bit....... well........ pointless. Can't really see why anyone would produce or for that matter would want to buy one, I mean it's the worst of everything. Complexity, size, fuel consumption, and six of things rather than four. Do you get payback in power and torque? Ummmm nope.

So am I missing something???
