75 CDT , anyone had a remap as opposed to the popular tuning box ?
 
I am a fan of remapping 'when there is a good one' available for a car , Volvo T5's and D5's are a great example with RICA amongst others.

Has anyone here actually had a remap by anyone on a 75 CDT or CDTI

I found ths some time ago and if the review is genuine and not a set-up then it could be very impressive.

As time has moved on they now charge 229 for that remap not over 300 pounds.

Sounds good just speak to the company doing the chips. Also as said in the statement the b*w uses the same engine which in turn produces about 160 so it can't be bad for the engine. Good luck and let us know how you get on

The power increase seems about the same as a Ron box which is still slightly cheaper and endorsed by hundreds of members? Now a chip and a Ronbox what would that give?? Dave

Yes there are diesle owners who have had remaps done, the one I remember reading about was upsolute, and most of the members were also running a ron box with it with the air intake mod, erg and turbo helper spring Jon dot com and co are running at around the 170 bhp mark.

I think I am right in saying that only TiRich went above this but 170 is about the limit without changing the turbo.

Also anything much higher would have to be eating the clutch.

On "the other side" they have had them up to ~185 BHP. Any higher than this, and it starts eating clutch very quickly, although 190 should be possible (albeit with extortionate clutch costs!)

With another turbo (and a rather large bonnet mod) i've heard north of 210 BHP... but the clutch again died very quickly.

Remember the clutch was designed for a 115 BHP engine!

Personally I am not looking for any kind of flying machine out of my 75. I have just sold a flying machine :P , I am only seriously considering the remap to make the car more drivable and I could genuinely do with a bit more tractor overtaking oomph.

I will still be getting another hobby car , I always have a commuter car and a hobby car. I would get another 944 but I am so impressed with my Rover that I'm seriously tempted my a V6 MG ( tuned).

TBH I think the car meets scene will make a difference to me , I like to be social with the hobby car and there are lots of Porsche events to do
( and im not talking the snobby ones). I also like performance Volvo but I already have the T5 to cover that ( now the wifes car).

I will see how the Rover/MG folk are before I consider two eggs in one basket. hehehehe

I got my one chipped by Upsolute as at the time there were no Rover Rons boxes and it has been fine and I was instantly aware of the power increase as soon as it was done. Be careful when you get it serviced as Rovers T4 will notice the new remap and if the garage is not aware will remap to original spec.

I have a Superchips upgrade. This is done on a franchise basis so results may vary, however the figures and graphs they publish http://www.superchips.co.uk/ are quite conservative (~144 bhp for a CDTi).

The place I went to had a dynomometer, so they took before & after readings. (I had an ITG air filter fitted at the same time). It went from 132bhp to 153bhp, but more importantly lots more torque down to ~1300 rpm.

Two runs plus remap & filter was about £450.

It is a lot more tractable pulling top gear down to ~25mph. I didn't notice any change in fuel consumption but others have. Max toruqe up to 360 Nm @ ~2400rpm.

I explained to the insurance brokers that I wanted more tractability. The insurance went up about 10% at next renewal.
