V6 belts change-best cost around the country?

Hi all, been looking through the previous threads but can't find an obvious answer to this.
Noting that the job is typically fairly expensive and needs a half decent mechanic (I have no means to do myself so please no advice in that regard) what are the best cost options people have found around the country please?

Have a day out and give Lates 600 a call. You can watch them do the job. Get your own parts if you want and he will fit them. Price you will have to phone him, but is very reasonable. He must be good, they come from the continent to get the belts and other things done.

I have used Gavin Fairley twice (different cars). Budget between £450 and £500, unless he finds anything else (he will check if you want anything else done before doing it). Those figures were for about 6 years ago - mine are just about due again, despite minimal mileage. He is near Ryton (Coventry).

Mark,

Although I'm uncertain that he does belt changes, give T4 man cb750Chris a call. He's based in your home town. :D

My local non-aligned mechanics, Station Garage, Hassocks, do everything on mine. They don't seem overpriced, and I have never knowingly had cause for concern. Alternatively, try the man in Littlehampton, whose name eludes me. Someone on here will recall him; he operated a 'go anywhere' clutch renewal service, and had a two-man garage in the town.

Good luck,
Derek.

Thanks all, especially those giving figures. And yes thanks but T4 Chris doesn't do the belts unfortunately.

I've been going to Portsmouth/Southampton 4-5 times during the past few years and have the following garages noted for any work on the 75 when in the area.

MJSMarine in Littlehampton used to come highly recommended on the forum.

Also, Gregory's garage in Fareham.

Yes, that's the one: MJS Marine. He's tucked away, and difficult to find, but knows Rovers.

Just had my 160+ done at German Motors in Sheffield (a few miles away i know but will give you an idea)
They do BMW, VW so have experience they did the belts water pump and all gaskets and seals for £642 very happy took them less than 1 day and the car runs like new.

You would think most garages are being asked to sell their soul to the devil from the responses i got shopping round, these guys called back with a quote in less than an hour

Although it has just clocked 89000 and it is the original belt so definitely running on luck
