a few issues.

Hi all,

Eventually picked up my 75 tourer contemporary SE this afternoon and I am as pleased as punch to have her. Drives like a dream it's like sitting in your most comfortable arm chair and I love her to bits. How to I make her perfect? She's a 54 plate diesel. The things I would like to fix. The TV doesn't work as we've now went digital , the sat Nav isn't working although I've not had time to trouble shoot that yet. The back wiper isn't working , the reversing sensors are giving off a loud and continuous tone even though there is nothing there every time I select reverse. And I now have an airbag light on which wasn't on when I picked her up but I moved the drivers seat and now have a red light on. Any guidance would be gratefully accepted.

Regards,

Chris

If the airbag light came on when you moved the seat then that might be caused by the under seat connectors which are of a poor design. Wiggle them to see if the light extinguishes

The reversing sensor harness is usually the cause of is problem described. It's a rather amateur affair of twisted together wires and insulating tape. A thorough going over the joins, soldering them, heat shrink seal, etc. may well fix it.

Hi Chris and :welcome:

Don't worry; the niggles which you've mentioned are not particularly unusual.

Some folk have fitted a separate Freeview receiver. Have a look at the ICE section of the forum.

Give us some detail when you get a chance Chris. Is the 'Navigation' ledgend on the LCD screen grey rather than black?

That's likely to be a faulty sensor or broken wire.

Try re-seating and treating with WD40 the blue (seat pretensioner) and yellow (seat airbag) connectors under the seat. This is a common problem.

Thanks guys I'm going to get the car to my dad's garage so I can have a crawl around where it's dry. As usual brilliant advice.

Air Bag Warning Light

Jules dealt with my air bag warning light issue by cutting-off both mating connectors and replacing with matching aerospace quality ones sourced from the same supplier, hence eliminating any electro-potential. It is corrosion which causes the warning light to come on (will be an MOT failure) and it is a common problem with many makes of cars where the seat electrics come from a different supplier to the wiring loom supplier.

Reversing sensors

I should also add that Jules fixed my troublesome reversing sensors which no end of visits to the Rover dealer (when they were in existence) failed to do.
