just received an email from parking eye about a parking permit.
they have sent the email to goodness knows how many people, many of them police and BT employees and have shown all the email addresses.

cant call parking eye as the phone number is just recorded messages

No, they have sent a follow email to apologise and to recall the message but the damage has been done.

Names and a Google search/Facebook search and ho ho you have I suspect located an awful lot of people to be your friend

Yes please do report it to the ICO as Andy says above, they are independent and exist to uphold information rights and have the power to levy a heavy fine, and lets face it it couldn't happen to a nicer company ! Obviously Parking Eye should have used the bc field when sending out the e mail

probably when people apply to parking eye for a parking permit they have to fill in their contact details

And they get car ownership details from DVLA which I have always thought is dodgy as they are not a government department, but no doubt they pay well , but when did DVLA ask any of us if we give permission for them to share our data with private third parties ?

Same with the NHS - your details are available, for a price. At the moment they are saying that they delete the names?
