Engine mount
 

Had a new exhaust backbox fitted 2 weeks ago and just noticed my engine drops at the front when I rev up, I just wondered if the lower engine mount had to be disconnected to fit the backbox, if so they may have forgot to connect it or its come loose, if not must have a worn bush, ;)

No need to remove the lower engine mount to fit an exhaust back box, so i would be checking the mount, even if it looks ok in situ remove and check it.

you can do this by driving up some ramps if you have some, if not then axle stands, chocks on the rear wheels, remove the under tray, once that is removed, put the car in neutral, manual or auto still neutral.

Then crawl under the car using a 15mm ring or ratchet spanner remove the two bolts.

Remove the mount and check it.

Replace even if it's only just starting to split.

I'd change sooner rather than later if this is the issue - unfortunately I didn't and the movement killed my exhaust flexible section (which was a whole new world of faff to change!)

That's a good price, but a quick question, how have they decided now that this mount is ok for all the cars 1.8 2.0 2.5 and the diesel?

If so how have they decided what is the best make up of the compound, as we all know the diesel compound was and is different, that is why i never believed that the mould for the 1.8 was being used to make the diesel mounts but with a different compound, then singled out by a yellow dot on it.


Therefore if the mount above is now one fits all, how have they come to that conclusion, also it is no different to the Chinese ones fit for all.
