Question about bulb warning light please

I have a bulb warning light come on for my rear brake light. It comes on the first time I start the car in the day, it stays on until the first time I apply the brakes. Then it goes off, and it usually stays off. The bulb is working fine when I check it. My drive is on a slope. I've tried taking the bulb out and cleaning the connections.

If the bulb was really done the warning light would stay on wouldn't it? I'm thinking it's a loose connection but I'm blowed if I can find out where

change the bulb anyway.they have a internal earth connection you cannot see
worth a try and if you can replace it with a heavy duty one from halfords or the like

I had a warning light I couldn't fathom out. In the end I replaced all bulbs at the rear, that got rid of it.

I had a warning light for a front and rear bulb.

It turned out to be a poor contact in the plug for the light switch module in the car.---I cleaned the pins and sprayed them with WD40.----No trouble since from over two years ago.

It's more than likely a fuzzy connection where the loom plugs into the bulbholder, unplug it and take a close look at both sides ;)

Had this on one of the fleet after fixing a boot leak and everything dried out :getmecoat:

Thanks boys, it was what Brian said. The car did have a leaky boot until recently.

Buy yourself a can of spray contact cleaner. Mine comes in ver handy on a 19 year old car! :)
