Luggage base board.

Had an hour or two spare on Saturday, so I made up a ply board base for the saloon luggage boot. As the hardboard base had warped. Was pleased with the result. :D

could you add luggage tie down points? Something lacking in the saloon.

I suppose you could, not a bad idea. Depends how they are secured. Certainly be useful in the V8, only way you can carry a spare wheel is in the boot.

What thickness ply did you use? First one I made was made from 3 ply & I found it still sagged. Made the second from 3/8ply which was far better but had to stick some polystyrene down the sides as it tended to give a knock as it was bouncing when going over bumps.

I used 6mm ply, haven't noticed any sagging.

I used 6mm ply, as the clips on the plastic handle device clamp shut at 6mm
(that inc the thickness of the carpet too).
:smilie_re:
The OEM board is 6mm.

6mm would be fine, just that I used 1/8th first time & that was to thin, but then as usual with me I over engineered it & couldn't be bothered to do a third one:}

I used 18mm ply :eek::eek::eek: as the hardware store didnt have 12 mm, and I was making it for the complete floor, to allow me to screw the amp and clamp the sub box down.

I do NOT recommend using 18mm lol. It is very heavy and awkward to remove the wheel and tools. Plus the handle wont fit, I have considered a gas strut, but I havent had time to do this. It does not rattle though lol.

Nice one Kev:bowdown: & did you know, if you rest the handle on the bodywork just below the rear window, It'll keep the base open without resting it on your head:eek::D

I used some 6mm MDF that I had left over from a project, no sagging yet either.
