Passenger Front Door Locked - Will not unlock/open
 

Hopefully someone may be able to point me to a diagram re this as not having much luck.
Found plenty of threads on the issue and already tried car unlocked and remove battery with no success.
Managed to start to peel top of the door card away from door, and can now see the hole where the interior door handle cable goes into the door, but not having any luck unlocking the door in the depths within the door.

Does anyone have a diagram (or can link me to one), so I can get an idea of what I'm looking at behind the metal skin, so have an idea of where I need to pull.

If you got inside the door your almost there. Get your arm in and toward the B pillar half way down you will feel the door lock actuator, on that toward the outer door skin is what your after, the metal latch with a plastic block attached. If you push that downward your door should then open.

Can I access the latch with the window down, or does the glass block access to the latch?

Was planning on leaning in via passenger window, but just thought that may have been reason why was having issues yesterday.

You will need to climb across the drivers seat I'm afraid, window glass will obstruct you if it's down. And once the door is open, you get to investigate and repair the cause. Mabey even source some parts. There are a few threads on this issue here and a Haynes manual has it's uses beyond a sill protector for jacking the car up.

Does the inner or outer door handle feel connected to any part of the mechanisms ? or are they redundantly floppy in operation ?
The "Door Locked" button on the top of the inner door finisher is showing what position ? This will allow you to know what exercise will be required to open the door with info shown below.
The reason for asking is that the inner door handle cable may have snapped it's weak hook !
This can easily be ascertained by removing the inner handle screw cap, and screw, the handle gets pulled in the conventional fashion with slightly more force, and it will come off in your hand. Then you will see if the cable is connected or not. If not connected/broken hook, you will be able to pull the outer cable away and pull the wire with pliers or grips. Assuming the cable is connected at the door mechanism you should now have a door that opens beit in an unconventional fashion. If the door still refuses to open it would appear that the cable has parted company from the mechanism housing, and the mechanical push rod clip has lost it's grip to the dog-leg that attaches to the exterior handle. The push-rod can be accessed from the interior door handle aperture using various tools to tickle the the rod in a downwards fashion.
I will say "It's not easy as such" but can be done with time and patience.

This happened to my MGZT190 on the drivers door, the inner handle cable was not correctly fitted to the mechanism housing, so was a lottery chance if the door would open from inside or not! All sorted out with a bit of swearing and a few tools !

Right, update time.

Cable is attached to interior door handle. There appears to be the same type of resistance as on other door handles but door does not open.
Button was not moving previously, but door card is somewhat bent now. :)

Think I managed to find the correct but. Hand in via the hole towards the b pillar. found a cable and traced it down. From feel it appears to be attached to a sticky out bit with a hook.
However will not move up or down (Aware down is needed, just tried both ways as I was there)

Any other suggestions would be grand, or it looks like major surgery with an angle grinder :)

You will see there is a lever with a white clasp/clip attached to it. This is the bit you need to get hold of and push downwards. There should be a rod connecting to the outer door handle to this plastic gizm, but I suspect the clip has let it slip off and allowing the door handle to do exactly nothing at all.
So to sum-up, the piece where the white clip/gizmo is the part that will need to be pushed down, this releases the door catch from the body and the door should open.

I think progress is being made of sorts. Fairly confident I'm in the right bit from the pics.
It appears that the white plastic grip, is no longer in the right place (has slipped) as non of my rod appears to be sticking out the other end.

However when I Push down on the bit it immediately pops back up again.
Waiting for the wife to get back so that she can try and open the door when I push down.

Hopefully that will fix it. If its does, is there a shorterm fix where I can leave the door unlocked, or is this now the procedure until the latch is replaced.
