R.I.P. Jack Charlton
Tremendously sad news to hear of Jack's passing this morning.
He was one of the games greats, and a gentleman. Not only a great player and part of England's greatest triumph, he was a great manager, a real people person. He completely turned round my clubs fortunes, ( Middlesbrough ), in the early seventies, and produced a team that very nearly won the domestic games top honour, the First Division as it was at the time. He was a great success in managing national sides too, his Eire team achieved so much. Thanks Jackie, for all you did. I'm sure " wor kid Bobby", would accept all of world, and domestic footballs, and all who met Jack's sincere and heartfelt condolences. God bless you Jackie. R.I.P. |
I am sorry to hear of his passing, he was a great player and manager.
RIP Jack Charlton. |

Jack Charlton RIP
The legendary Newcastle and Leeds united former player has died aged 85,after a battle with dementia.
Jack and his wife Pat have been my customers for a lot of years,I never really had much to do with him as I'm not into football or fishing, he did a lot of things for his home town of Ashington and other good causes around the north east.ironically I was just at the house on Thursday chatting to Pat and I noticed Jack was not in his usual seat on the sofa in the living room but thought nothing more of it. I had noticed that he was not the man he used to be over recent months, a few times they were either going out or coming in when I was there and I always said "hello Jack",and the last couple of times Pat has had to say,"Richard was saying hello to you Jack" to get him to respond. He was a big bloke as in tall, with a big personality too. Another great British legend gone. |
That's sad news indeed, RIP Jack Charlton.

His son went to the same school as me ( just a few years ago ) when he was manager of Middlesbrough , he often used to pick him up from school in a big white Ford Zodiac/Zephyr estate , it was chaos as the car was surrounded by gawping kids !
