what spray for electrical contacts to prevent rust?

The pins on my rear offside light cluster were rusty.
I have cleaned them with vinegar and the rust has now gone.
As I seem not to have a spare offside cluster, what spray can I use on the pins, to prevent rust but will not short out pin to pin?

Castrol DWF?

Rover used to pack the connectors inside the doors eg. electric windows SD1 with special grease to prevent corrosion. Had a look at Rimmer's but can't find any but perhaps this eBay stuff would do the job:

MarinaBrian recomended Vaseline for that job. I did all the underbonnet elec connectors with it using a cotton bud. No it's not conductive :D

Just don't do what my mate did with his motorbike years ago. Stripped and cleaned the rear light connections then sprayed them with some electrical "sealant" stuff and wondered why the light didn't work after he reassembled it :duh:

Dielectric Grease in purpose made for the job. You could use vaseline but being petroleum jelly it may react with some materials.

I have ordered Permatex 81150 Dielectric Grease.

thank you for the advice

Good call, all my connectors have melted!
I'm kidding of course, but thought it was worth a check, over half a decade since I did them and all is well.

Vaseline petroleum jelly does actually absorb water, I used to test the stuff where it was to be used as an insulator.

if the grease does not come in the next couple of days I will need to use something as I'm using the car at the weekend

GT 85 spray works for me. Seems to last much longer than WD40
