Trees!-a question.
 

For years now i have had a lovely cherry blossom tree in my garden, this year however it has died i only noticed when a neighbour mentioned it yesterday has anybody any idea why it has just died, last year it blossomed as normal this year dead.

Neighbour killed it. :D

It's now an Ex Cherry Tree & gone to meet its maker, bwtiful ploomage ;)

Seriously I will ask my friend when I see her she may be able to throw some light on the subject.

The scary bit is that my other neighbour, the one nearest to the tree died this year and she always commented on the plumage, the tree was over 25years old.

Cherries installed in un-amended clay soil or planted too deeply or in spots where water accumulates usually die after a few years.

I’m doubtful your sick tree will survive. Remove it, mix a bag of soil conditioner in a six-foot wide planting area and put another in its place.

Cherry blossoms do make an awfull mess....... Maybe someone got fed up and decided that -- the poison in the chalice is from the tresle with the pestle --- or something-- uh ohhhh... :o :o

Actually carl you may have hit on the answer, a few years ago i ripped up the tarmac on my drive and replaced it with gravel, since then the wet conditions over the years have left a waterlogged bit very near to the tree and as they don't like being overwet that could be the reason.
