New project - probably my biggest challenge yet.

Like I needed another project... but anyway, took delivery of this today, it has been on my radar for a while as one that needs saving. How right I was!

The owner didn’t have it for long and as reported on here, it has been through a few owners recently.

Lots and lots and lots of work required to get it back to a good state.

Have fun mate, I quite like the colour too, the thing I like about project cars is that when you put something back together and then look at what you have done it makes you feel happy again knowing it’s been done properly, also with a project car your not normally up against a time restraint
Will look forward to seeing it come along
Nice one mate

The near side rear door and offside rear quarter will take a little more than polishing Pete!

:} Just seen this thread. Glad to see the car is in safe hands and yes, you're right, Lagoon is not an expensive paint so at least that's one thing less to be concerned about. :D

My own lagoon is poorly at the moment. Makes a horrendous knocking noise on startup that sounds like main bearings . Stops after around 60 seconds or so and from them on sounds as sweet as a nut. It was supposed to be in with Lates & Pete today but that had to cancelled as Pete has had an accident and is currently on crutches. No doubt it will get sorted in due course. Frustrating though (but worse for poor old Pete).

Looking forward to seeing updates on No.6 :}.

She’s still on the road Andy!! I’ve had a quick look underneath and the sills, rear arms and tank straps look in very good condition.

The interior has seen better days! The drivers seat has a huge burn in the backrest of all places? And that ‘stain’ on the seat base, I shall see how the rest of it looks when I have donned my hazmat suit.

Well I have made a start, the engine bay has had a quick clean, upon checking the plenum I found a small compost heap, off with the scuttle panel and borrow the hoover to ensure all is clean and dry!

The air, pollen and (lack of) pcv filter have been changed as well.

Russp 2nd June 2019 17:23

Cracking on there Andy.
Meg not scared of the hoover?
We had a Collie cross when I was a kid , he hated it.
Used to wind him up by petting the hoover and saying good dog to it then switching it on so it swallowed his dog chocs!
I did love him and we had him for years

trikey 3rd June 2019 18:40

Well today was spent removing the Chinese led headlight conversion, this also revealed a couple of broken headlight mounts, once sorted and back together with new bulbs, revealed a bulb warning light. Turns out I had a chafed wire in the usual place (over the top of the chassis)

Out with the soldering iron and a new piece of wire added and the little warning light was banished.

I noticed some oil on the sump when I had the bumper off, turns out to be a hole in the sump.

The oil is draining now, I will whip the sump off tomorrow before finding a replacement.

Yes afraid it is! It will be multicoloured for a while while I do all the other jobs, the respray will be the last thing to get done.

I have two Lagoon’s myself now.

I popped up to Kings Lynn this morning to collect a set of ppd sandstone seats and a rear blind from Snetty.

The rest of the day was spent removing the interior to fit a wiring loom as being a club spec car, it’s got wiring for nothing!!

While I was in there I wired up the rear blind, and decided that the parking sensor ecu loom I have had for years needed a new home, so that went in too.

Great pictures! ESPECIALLY the first one. Why? It gave me an awesome overview of the hand brake and compensator cover. Also, are those things under the seats HVAC ducts for back seat passengers? Does the duct in the centre console also connect to them?

Oh yes, honourable mention to the family picture, too.

Thanks,

The centre air duct is a cold air feed to the rear vents in the console Glenn, the side ones as you say feed air to the rear of the car under the seats.

Sitting in the corner awaiting mot, along with two others that need testing following lay ups of over three years each!

No rush with the lagoon, it needs to go to Tom Hobbs to have the rear quarters put right before painting.

I didn’t know you had this car! I made a half-hearted attempt to buy it a couple of years ago but the bloke wouldn’t budge on price. I always hoped it had gone to a good home. I’ve always loved the Lagoon colour but my fleet days are over now. Just down to three cars now, one of which is always being renovated some way or another!

Looks like good progress so far. Noticed in one of the pictures, door card covering is delaminating like in my silver car. Are you thinking to recover them or to replace? Seems to me now so long since production ended, the days of finding long lasting replacements might be a short lived solution. Soon be needing a card coverer in the forum. I can only imagine it being a tricky job to do well, a bit like welding.

The owner didn’t have it for long and as reported on here, it has been through a few owners recently.

Lots and lots and lots of work required to get it back to a good state.

The shut lines look ok from here Andy! Not a bad match for colour either. Might have looked better with a sunspot one though.

Looks like it was sold on the bay for £311 back in June https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/rover-75-...p2047675.l2557

No idea who bought it - does anyone know if it was a club member?

Bah! I was hoping Trikey would take it far enough and then I’d find somewhere to store it away from my wife!
