Chrome trim clips (quantity)

Hello chaps,

I've decided that to tackle the leaks coming from the chrome trim I will remove it all and re-install with some sealant around each hole. I prefer this idea to one I've read of pulling the trim out partially and squeezing silicon down along the crack.

As far as I know it's only leaking from the rear trim (tourer) but it may well be leaking down into the doors as well so I want to do the whole lot. I understand the plastic clips are likely to break off on removal, so does anyone know the amount needed to replace all the clips?

Hi, yes I have checked but they don't show the quantity for that part, I think as there one may not need to replace all at once. In any case, I realised that I only need to fully remove the rear side trim as the clips are obstructed from the inside. I think I may be able to just seal the rest without removal.

For th rear trim there seem to be four clips each side.

Does work

Some years ago I had a terrible leak into my boot which I traced to one of the clip holes holding the chrome finnisher strip along the rear wing. I gently forced the finisher away from the wing and pushed matches in to hold the strip away from the wing. I then ran lots of Silicone behind the strip - especially around the clip holes. This stopped the boot leak dead. I therefore decided to do this along all the chrome finisher strips on all three of my 75's and also did the same to the Sill finisher's below the doors too' Any excess Silicone removed with white spirit on a cloth. The silicone provides a good seal and you really do not notice it's presence. I also rigorously cleaned/ de-rusted and thickly treated all underbody /wheel arches plus all cavities . suspension arms too.
