No rear wipers-rover auto diesel-tourer (05)

The rear wiper has packed up on my Connie, after a very quick inspection it appears the motor unit is in the back bumper assy. I dread if it is controlled by yet another 'module', any help please!

The motor for the wiper is in the tailgate immediately below the window and can be accessed by removing the 2 small poppers, this allowing the cover to be removed and the motor accessed. I've just done the same thing on my donor tourer but the motor on this is rusted up and knackered!!

Open up the glass hatch and try and turn the wiper by hand, it may well be seized on the shaft.

Spray the spindle with WD every day for a week.
Then grasp the arm firmly and try to waggle it in the direction it should move.
Repeat the spray and waggle daily, until you get slight, but easy movement.
Then switch it on.
It may well start working, mine did.
Do this at your own risk, there is always the possibility the glass might break!

As I Used to say to my apprentice - do the obvious first, dont get to technical. This old saying has come back to bite me - fuse 42 o/c, I nearly got to taking the motor out! I get my free t.v. license next month, may be that's my problem? ? ?

The next question is why did the fuse blow, open the rear hatch and check that the wiper arm moves freely.

I feel an absolete bufoon on this one, the fuse had 'gone' physically not electrically! I will make my self clear, I had a radio problem and found the radio fuse gone (f41/f43) and borrowed the wiper fuse, all 15 Amp. In the hot spell we had, and having I must have forgot to replace the fuse I 'borrowed' and all is well.

We do like a happy ending, no matter how we get there.
