Leyland

Hi, a couple of days ago we followed a lorry with the blue and white L logo and the name Ashok Leyland. Actually seen a number of them now. So Leyland continuous, not British but Ashok. Was nice to see the L sign.

Loads of mahindra vehicles around. Seems as if India has a good domestic vehicle manufacturing base. We had a wonderful 30 day backing trip in India, highlight for me was seeing the ww2 sights at Kohima and reading the fantastic story of its defence.

I remember, back in the day, when I used the M6 near Preston, I regularly saw chassis units on the motorway.

They were out of Leyland and, I assume, under test,
The guys were perched up in the open air, wearing crash helmets and didn't hang about!

The trouble Wrightbus is based in Ballymena near where I work and you regularly see chassis with strange tent structures on the cab areas to protect the drivers delivering them - not much in the way of crash protection though.
The famous Leyland "plug hole" badge (or '@rse - hole' as my dad amusingly always calls it) is a rare sight on the roads now.
