Mg zt-t scrap yard bound

Gutted but at this rate I will be scrapping my zt after 2 weeks of owning her clutch issues (new one fitted ) but now the mechanic can't bleed it I don't have anymore money I'm gutted

CCFMJL 20th June 2019 15:25

Good god is it that bad, I thought I had problems I guess it's not drivable. If I can't be bled it'll probably be the slave but he'll know that and should have said to get a new one when getting the clutch unless there was proof of one recently fitted.

Surely you don't need to scrap it!

Am in PM conversation with OP and will go over to his if wanted

if the worst comes to the worst, its a gear box off job to check slave. With the weather the way it is, I hope OP has a garage :)

suggest seeing if master to fitting mid way can be bleed first

Don't laugh

The slave and master were replaced in 2016 they were not the issue

The issue was the "mechanic" was trying to bleed via the break master not the clutch master under the pedel it's now sorted I hope I'm going to collect her tomorrow

Then find a different mechanic to fit the top mount that needs doing

Couldn't help myself , I laughed.

Please don't let him near your brakes.

Might be worth posting where the garage is so others can avoid.

It's a mobile mechanic I thought all the hydraulic were gone as all this NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- happened after I ran over ther rubber off of a truck tyre

After the help I received I will pay for a membership when I get paid

This will sound very rude (or, at least, unsympathetic) but ZT's were and are not the cheapest cars to run. Their size and complexity makes them poor candidates for those who are new to car DIY and lazy sods like myself who don't enjoy laying on my back in the rain trying to undo some nut that's not been moved for 15 or more years.

Many of us on here are fortunate not to have to sacrifice food on the table to pay for car repairs and I would hope that Russel can get a few months of trouble-free motoring from his ZTT before the next crisis. And, if he does have to accept defeat, don't just chuck it in for scrap as there's bound to be someone on here who could take the problem away at a fair price.

No offence intended.

macafee2 20th June 2019 16:20

are you sure we can not change the mount?
Never done it myself I hope others will advice how difficult it is. DIY, you learn, feel proud and of course, save money.
