Disastersville.. but not a 75

Yesterday, grandson filling up their Audi 6 (2.5 L diesel, S reg ) got chatting at the pump to another guy. Filled up with 30 L fuel, drove about 2 miles when it stopped.

!!!!! Petrol not Diesel !!! Towed back home .

Any opinions on the outcome ? Its not a common rail system .:o

can you not disconnect the outlet from the pump ,turn on the ign, and let the pump empty the tank? then fill it with diesel. I did this once, thankfully only £10 worth though, and I was local.

Thanks, the family are trying to drain it now, But what i really was asking was about any damage to the works, cos its driven until it gave up . :o

the petrol would strip away that lovely oily film on the moving parts of the injection pump so i would dose it with 2 stroke if and when it starts [500ml to say 4 gallons of diesel] .

just my opinion of course .;)

I did this some 10 years ago with my R reg. diesel Disco. Called the Main Dealer, who advised that I could continue to use the vehicle but to top up it with diesel everyday. Ran the beast for another 6 years without any problems... but it was a Discovery and not an Audi, wishing them well though...

Thanks everyone. Seems that its working ok for now . They drained it and dosed it well with redex. Just heard it now, sounds like the usual bag of audi nails, but g/son is very relieved. :o

Glad to hear that there's been a happy ending to this.

I came across a guy who had filled up his citroen diesel with an unmarked can of fluid. turned out that the can was used detergent of some kind. The engine was trashed!
