Rave disc - Rimmers - not working?

I've had the Rimmers edition of the RAVE disc for a while and used it successfully. However, both from the disc, or the saved copy on my PC, it now won't work. The TData icon when clicked appears to start loading Acrobat, but nothing appears on screen. I suspect this may be a Win10 update problem, has anyone else got this problem?

Not exactly,however :-

I ordered a disc in February this year. The demo worked, but I couldn't get in much deeper.
Message spoke about issues with Adobe, can't remember in detail.

Returned it to Rimmers, who sent a replacement, by return.
The demo works, and I feel that I get a bit deeper into it, but not much.

This time I also loaded it onto a different laptop, with similar result.

On the first copy, the actual files were all, or nearly all, listed Rover 25.
On the second copy some of them are listed Rover 25.

The CD is clearly labelled as 75 / ZT

Both my laptops are Windows 7

Regards

Mike

Can you see an Acrobat version number as it's trying to load?

Rave uses Acrobat 4.0. No other version of Acrobat will open it.

If you're seeing a version number that isn't 4.0 when it's trying to load then that's what causing the problem.

Close anything else that's using Acrobat. Make sure Acrobat is not running in the background (look in Task Manager, Applications tab).

When you click TData.exe this screen should flash up momentarily and then disappear as the Rave splash screen comes up.

I had the (sssshhhh....) illegal Rave for a very long time. Apart from having to wind the PC clock back to use it, it worked perfectly. When Rimmers first offered the legal copy I bought it. It has worked perfectly until now. I copied it to my PC and ran it from there, or alternatively from the CD.
Being very familiar with the 75, since 2007, I've done all my own servicing etc.,
the occasions that I use the RAVE are therefore now much less frequent, so it has been a little while since I tried to use it.
Having recently had some Win10 updates, I am wondering if it is related. (I always keep the PC fully updated, and have never had update problems unlike some!). I have a separate Seagate Personal Cloud drive where all my data is stored, rather than the C drive. The copy is held on the Seagate.
Now, when I click on Tdata (disc or copy), the Acrobat Ver.4 splash screen comes up, with movement showing it is loading. When that splash screen goes, nothing else happens.

Just to add to the above.

Separate from RAVE, I do have Acrobat Reader DC installed (& updated when necessary). I also have Acrobat 5 installed; this is the "full" Acrobat (though very old) which allows me to do editing.

Neither of these programs are running unless I request them.

I have a small laptop, which is not used much so is probably not fully updated on Win10. I'll have to try the disc on that; failing that I have an older lone still using XP, which I use for calibrating the lpg system.

If, after your various Win10 updates, Rave won't run from either the CD or the copy on your machine - I'd try changing TData.exe in the copy to run in compatibility mode (for either Win10 or Win 7). If that doesn't work it looks like the latest version of Win10 is not compatible with Acrobat 4.0.

You could try downloading a standalone copy of Acrobat 4.0 and see if that'll run without bringing Rave into the equation at all. Here's one (apparently!) - http://www.oldversion.com/windows/acrobat-reader-4-0

If the standalone Acrobat 4 doesn't run on Win10 then that explains why Rave won't run.

If it does run, then there must be a problem with some part of Rave and your version of Win10. Maybe there's something missing from the Acrobat 4 folder inside Rave that is needed by Win 10.

Windows 10 build 2004 broke it. If you have a machine on build 1909 or below it will work fine.

Run Xp on the Win 10 as a Virtual Machine?

Been there & dunnit already - no joy. I've yet to try the laptops.
