Spring Compressor
How'do folks :}
I helped a friend change a front top mount bearing on a Renault Laguna. It's the first time i've had to use a Spring Compressor - luckily my friend had borrowed a Spring Compressor :cool: https://s15.postimg.cc/6eauv311z/IMG...4_153608_1.jpg https://s15.postimg.cc/qloangquf/IMG...4_153614_1.jpg https://s15.postimg.cc/qyfoto3zb/IMG...4_153619_1.jpg I've read of folks having issues compressing springs for the 75/ZT :shrug: Part of the reason why i changed the complete front Strut Assemblies on my car when a Spring broke. Surely no one has had issues with compressing Springs using this type of Spring Compressor ? :shrug: I assume anyone having issues with our cars is using those small Spring Compressors that require 2 or 3 to be used ? from my experience doing this - I would not have been as comfortable using those :D Paul. |

Hi Paul.
Yes those are excellent compressors ;) and you feel safe using them :} |

:eek: it's Good to see they are able to be used to compress a spring until the coils touch :cool: I never went that far :D I'll be interested to find out if the one i used was an ebay job or not - i've seen them for around £70 on ebay - up to £750 from a "Proper" Tool Supplier :shrug: I definitely wouldn't be comfortable using those wee ones after using this. I used the two hook at each end ones and could not compress the springs far enough. As I was given a pointer to these I have ordered a set.

Alas even if they turn up for the weekend I wont be able to do the spring. Changing belts on my sisters car. macafee2 |

I assume the third part is for connecting the two Units together ? and this would keep them in position(on the Coil) while compressing each unit ? :cool: I think a set of these AND a set like i used would be a Good purchase - around £100 for Both. I like the bigger Cups(?) on the type like i Used - seem like they'd be less likely to damage or stress a Coil :shrug: the smaller pair look like they'd be easier to use in the event a Spring needs compressed on the Car - Removing/fitting rear Springs on our cars maybe :shrug: Paul. |
