Error code and T4

Trying to assist an owner miles away on the island of Gotland who has been to a local T4 equipped garage and told that he needs to replace his ECM.

He has now got back to me saying the error code is: P1647 CAN-buss kombiinstrument felaktig (CAN-bus IPK faulty).

Not much information using the search, so does he need a replacement IPK or EMU or is it a CAN-bus error possibly from water ingress?

Another owner tells me his garage confirmed he had a 88 deg thermostat by using a T4. I'm guessing a T4 can read the coolant temperature, any hints to where I'll find it appreciated.

Regards

Is it a diesel? That message comes up on diesel ECU'S that although still working the can-bus controller is likely to pack in ;)
Depends where the fault was stored. If the can bus controller is still working then T4 will see the coolant temperature.

Sorry forgot to add car specs: a V6 2000 poverty spec manual. Diesels are just about extinct here. I believe the fault was stored in the ECM.

How do I go about checking the coolant temperature? Only just finding my way around the T4.

Your assistance appreciated

Ah that clears that up ;)
You can view the temperature in live data in the engine management screen on T4
