door trim question
My MG ZT...
The decorative oval bright trim that fits around the door pull on the inside of the front passenger door... Mine's very loose. Will it reattach securely when the door card is removed shortly to be re-fixed (so it doesn't move about) or do I need to be looking for a replacement from my friendly scrap yard? :o |
You mean the chrome surround?
I've had that problem. It's supposed to just clip in, but the clips seem to be made out of recycled teabags. In the end I just glued mine to the door card. Honestly you wouldn't know the difference if done properly. |
It is attached to the door handle by 3 VERY thin and brittle tabs.
If you take the door handle out (1 screw and a bit of wiggling) you can reglue it using superglue or such like. |
used a soldering iron on mine to weld the plastic of the chrome trim to the handle body, tried glueing it but the kids managed to pull them apart again :}

To do in Situ I used epoxy resin to do a front that had come loose but when fitting the rear actuator recently, so had to take the card off and the handle, Trikey (who did all the work :bowdown:) used a soldering iron as above.... Both methods seem to work fine.
