I have my Original receipt for mine somewhere,
I'll dig it out and scan it.
Surprisingly at a quick look, it was a lot dearer as they were about to go bust (2005 unbeknown to me at time of purchase) than above list.

Good point Colin, I'll add the Monogram Paint Costs too.

Orange Grove like mine, was a Supertallic finish, so was a snip at £1000 extra :p:

The Chromactive 'Flip' colours cost an eye watering £2,100 :panic:

2Diesels 11th November 2009 09:24

Absolute bargain:D

Trying to work out what's standard equipment, Mine's a ZT-T 135+ Auto & has the following
ATC std?
Elec R/Windows std?
Cruise optional?
S/Roof def optional
Driver's Ignorance Pack def optional
Loadnet Optional?
Full size spare def optional
Halogen Proj lamps std?
Monaco interior opt?
Straights opt?
Plus the bonny paintwork def opt

What do you reckon?

Roverowner 11th November 2009 09:44

Driver's Ignorance Pack............

Don´t fink I gott wun o dem..........:D

GreyGhost 11th November 2009 10:21

ZT+ 180 Sports Auto (177Ps) = £21,912 + Metallic paint £450.00 = £21,962

Bought mine in November 2004 from Phoenix.
- Discount £4,450.00 = £17,512.00
- PX (14 year old Transit van) £800.00 = £16,712.00

I then haggled over the fact it was a 2003 model at 2004 price.

- Further discount £1500.00 = £15,212
- Steering ICE control not operative £50.00 = £15,162.00

A bargain at the time and to my mind still is, three speed fan swapped for 2 speed by Jules. Power VIS actuator exchanged for refurbished unit by Stocktake. That's all in 5 years of motoring.
Best car I have ever owned.

Mintman 11th November 2009 10:29

31608 £ new

Bought mine with 11000 KMs 3 and ahalf years ago in Germany for 16000 £ ( conversion £ -Euros from today)

JohnDotCom 11th November 2009 16:31

Right mine was a staggering (for what they are worth now 4+ years later) £28,290 Inc. (Discounted price by £2.8k) this of course included all the extras.
Which on mine also included, Full Sat Nav System, Traction Control, Electric Sun Roof, Metallic Paint, Self Levelling Suspension, Full size alloy spare, the extras Packs and Traffic Alert System (and all the standard extras).

At the time I was very happy on yet another great car,
five weeks later was very miffed when they went bust but thats life.

Villa Villan 11th November 2009 16:38

A tadge over £22000 new in 04 and when I got her in April this year at 5 years old with 34000 I gave £3800...I'm as happy as a gip in tish to have and drive a dream :D.

Cheers
Tony

ampwhu 11th November 2009 16:39

in fairness, i would never spend 20K on a motor. it's a car after all. it's like all cars i see... if you wait long enough, they come down in price enough for you to realistically afford it. then i buy.

i like my 75. it has a certain style of class. even sitting next to merc's, audi's and the odd VW at work, it doesn't look out of place.

Typhoon190 11th November 2009 17:07

On the MG's did the '+' spec include some of the extra's, and did the price for the highline sat nav include the Harmon Kardon ?

JohnDotCom 11th November 2009 17:20

Sat Nav didn't include HK system, no.

Typhoon190 11th November 2009 17:37

If I've got this right ( not likely though ) mine comes in around £31 000.. Most of that being the paint, some of which is flaking off the chrome trims , and the Tv Sat Nav. Tv won't work soon and my Sat nav is no more.:getmecoat:

kfieldin 11th November 2009 17:54

Just on £30k without the cost of the Money-gram Kinetic 2 coat paint... No sunroof, heated or memory seats but everything else. Bought it when 6 months old for £14k cash deal.

JohnDotCom 11th November 2009 18:37

Sat Navs can be repaired and the TV Tuner easily replaced with genuine digital or add on.

Haven't written it off, just short of some numbers on the lottery draws recently. :D

I'll get round to it soon I hope. A certain Green member has offered his assistance.

Had a day off work to see Nick at Austin Garages today who fitted a Blue illuminated IPK and Clock along with TrafficMaster (from Les at SMC). He built up a proper loom for it too!

Had a day off work to see Nick at Austin Garages today who fitted a Blue illuminated IPK and Clock along with TrafficMaster (from Les at SMC). He built up a proper loom for it too!

Flip me, mine costs 22850 quid BEFORE adding the cost of the Apex wheels and tyres onto it.

And I payed 2 grand for it only 7 years old. LOL. Win!

Lack of support from buyers for many in MGR and other Manufacturers ranges when new.

If no one buys them, no cheap runarounds for the rest. :getmecoat:

Robson Rover Repair 11th November 2009 22:12

To be fair, compared to America, 20K here is a rip off, you would have payed half that for a smiliar spec car in the USA.

20K would have bought you a decent Mustang FFS.

BigRuss 12th November 2009 00:41

With the dealer fit extra's to the Saloon around £31,000. :D

The Tourer was fairly standard when I got it, around £22,000 when new.

Bought at 9 and 7 years old respectively for less than £6,000 for the pair, bargain:D:D:D:D

John, at least you and I and a few other members did our bit to support MG

Rover when they were trading.

The list price for my 75 in June 2004 was £24,500 and after a bit of haggling

paid £16,400. I thought at the time it was a bargain and was very happy with

the deal.

The Duotone option was only £750, considering that metalic paint was a £450

extra, the two tone finish only cost extra £300.

True, according to Reebs first post, mine would have been at 30315 GBP. However, since she's a Sterling Pack series, most of the options were bundled and gave way for a lower price. With the GBP conversion rate at that time, this would have made 42000 Euros, but I got for around 33000 Euros after some haggling and due to the fact that she used to be the dealer's personal and demo car... Still consider it a bargain as the dealer was proposing a diesel with manual transmission and less toys for 3000 Euros more...

I am in shock!!!
Mine cost a wopping £33,157.25!!! I wonder how high up in Rover its original owner was:shrug:. Just 9 years later it cost me £2,250. Thats a saving of £30,907.25 what is even worse it lost £3434.138889 every year!!

CMPQS 12th November 2009 21:38

often wondered this on my car but have never had all the info to add it up correctly.

54 reg ZT 190 SE + in a solid colour with Monogram cream leather seats and a full size Apex spare wheel. List was £26,090 + 850 for the plus pack making it £27k but I do not know how much the alloy & leather seats were.

A lot of money new, I think it was a bargin at £15750 at 9 months old & 9000 miles.

Anyone know the missing costs?

Just been on Parkers - apparently my car is worth £875 in Part exchange or £1600 if I sell it privately. Over 17 grand new without the extras.

If I want to get a price with all the options I've got to pay for it, I didn't want to do that but I guess that they might add five hundred quid tops.

I'm better off keeping it and driving it till it dies.

Did option lists change from year to year? some of the stuff on mine isn't listed. Perhaps because the were dealer fit rather than factory options?

The options lists changed very little over the years. Some options being added

others taken off as they were made standard on certain models.

Tim, if you give us a list of the options/extras, I am sure answers can be given.

I think I've listed most of it in the "what upgrades have you done to your car" thread - all genuine Rover bits / accessories; but I was just curious what they would have added to the price of the car if specified when new. Anyway, from memory the list is:

Electric Sunroof
17" Meteor Alloys ILO 16" Unions
Metallic Paint
Leather ILO of Velour seats
6 Disc CD Changer
Luggage Rack
Rear Sunblind (manual)
Heated Washer Jets
Mudflaps
Chrome Door Finishers
Chrome Mirror Cappings
Premium Carpet Mats (for summer) - just seen those on Jules' receipt £52.76!!!!
Rover Rubber Mats (for winter)

Dont know how much the fuel burning heater was and the thermo call.

So mine comes in at £28.223.00.

Thanks for your sterling work in compiling the listings lads, your dedication to task is admirable!

Mine was £27,590 new according to Post #1.

It is a Connoissuer SE, so probably came with standard items rather than options, such as the Paint being Heritage etc, I don't really know.

We paid, £2995 for it 3 years ago. The Car is 10 years old, so I think its a bargain, actually, I know its a bargain, I have yet to experience Driver comfort in any other vehicle to match :D

I forgot which type of Radio set up I have, its the one with the Larger screen to the upper left of the unit and a "Telephone" Button on it. So you could add that on too when I know which it is :p: (its late and I have been on the wine lol..........)

kissifer1972 30th May 2011 01:47

Mine is an 01 CDT Conn SE with Hi Line Nav, HK Audio, Traction Control and an electric sunroof.

So according to that list cost £25,440 when new

tricia1470 30th May 2011 05:35

Well mine would have cost £26328 with the extra's it's got

Freebyrd 30th May 2011 07:29

My ZT-T 180+ £25750 New, and I thought it was a bit overpriced at £4500 with 32010 miles when I bought it last May.

nick nick 30th May 2011 07:31

Was there no differance in the price between the cdt & the cdti
(sorry if this has already been asked....I havent read all the posts}

ChineseRover 30th May 2011 10:32

Our Connie SE + Sat Nav 2.5 Auto Tourer with meteors, wooden wheel (for steering!) had a list price of £29,298 when we bought it in 2001. We actually paid £20,000 cash plus a trade-in of a 2 and a bit year old Rover 200.

Our MGF VVC with aircon and hardtop cost £22,641.10 (which was the list price such was the waiting list then – 6 months!). Assuming the car is now worthless, depreciation has been £1,617 a year and I just can’t understand why people go on about the depreciation of buying new. The loss is not the buy side but the sell.

Also buy cars for cash, NEVER with borrowed money which again reduces ownership costs by not bunging handouts to the banks!

Arctic 30th May 2011 12:26

My Susie

Connoisseur SE manual = £22,822
Connoisseur SE Option Pack (inc. Cruise Control) = £1,140
17" Serpent Alloy Wheel = £318 or 4 fully fitted inc centre caps & Locking Wheel Bolts = £1,408
6 CD Multichanger = £325
Driver's Intelligence Pack (High Line Instrument Pack with Trip Computer/Auto Dimming Mirror/Reversing Sensors) = £400
Driver's Memory Seat = £275
Manual Height & Lumbar Adjustment For Front Passenger Seat = £100
Electric Sunroof = £525
Wood Rim Steering Wheel = £200

Cant work out if some of these were these items fitted as standard included in the base price Connoisseur SE

Connie SE came with the option pack that covered 6 CD multichanger, Driver’s Intelligence Pack and electric gizmos on driver and passenger seat. What a bargain!

VVC-Geeza 30th May 2011 12:40

I can't believe how reasonable powerfolds were as a factory option.I'm amazed there weren't many more takers!

Tractor Boy 30th May 2011 13:16

anyone know if the contempary was the same price as a conny?

Reebs 30th May 2011 15:21

The contemporary was £200 more than the connoisseur, and the contemporary SE was £400 more than the connoisseur SE.

Post 1 has all the details ;)

I confess this was one of the options I could not get excited about and therefore did not have. In the 10 years of ownership the only time the mirrors have been clipped was by lady wife driving through the Heathrow tunnel and folding mirrors would not have helped! Did not splash out on the sun roof, funny headlight bulbs or expensive sound system as the old ears are a bit shot!

I know lots of people here get excited by folding mirrors but suspect that it why they were an option! Too BMW for me (pointlessly expensive!)

I find mine useful when entering the garage. I park it very close to the nearside and if I misjudge it by a few millimetres on the way in, rather than reverse back out for a second attempt, I can just press the fold button.

I just wish they had been tied in to the remote locking system so they folded as you locked it. Yes I know there is a mod to fix it, but it has disadvantages.

Tim_Burgess 17th July 2011 10:42

I had powerfolds on my Jap import Celica and mazda Cosmo - even my Proton Impian had them and I do miss them. very useful when parking on narrow or busy streets

Rupert 18th July 2011 08:26

I bought my '04 plate ZT+ 160 Turbo when it was exactly a year old in March 2005. It was an ex-Longbridge car that had done just 3,627 miles in that first 12 months and I paid £14,350 for it (price when new would have been £19,297). Six years later it has 75,500 miles on the clock and it still drives sweet as a nut. As I'm now retired I can't see me ever changing my car again, so BX04 XDV will just have to keep going!

Canonite 25th July 2011 10:18

According to that list my 2002 160+ cost some poor ****** just shy of £22,000 !!!
2 months ago I gave £1000 for it and I have spent £300 replacing wear and tear items and a service.

It's a lot of the car for the money if you're willing to give a little TLC.

When the list price on the latest Polo starts at just under 10 grand for the poverty spec 3 door 1.2 the £8700 saving buys a lot of road tax, fuel and servicing; and I know which I'd rather drive.

BTW, on the subject of options, the list price for a set of mats the teutonic baked bean tin is £70:eek:

Growla666 1st September 2011 11:42

Plezier 3rd November 2012 17:57

Well it seems that TGB cost just shy of £24,000 which is a lot of folding stuff which ever way you look at it.

Jay160 13th November 2012 17:25

so i take it my 1.8t facelift has got the se pack

xenons lights washers auto mirror .climate. alacantra seats. airbags everywhere,

Robson Rover Repair 13th November 2012 17:33

Just shy of £22,700 for my "dealer spec" Club tourer.

BTW

Integral Load Restraint Net Cassette System (Tourer) = £150

Has anyone photos of this setup?

Tim_Burgess 20th June 2013 20:42

I've just done the maths on the "old girl" which according to the service book is a Connoisseur, not an SE and the options add up to £6943 taking her cost when new to £28358.

That was a lot of money in 2001. Oh, still is.

I'm guessing that as a re-patriated Jap-spec that the first owner probably got a fairly hefty discount though.

1gp 20th June 2013 20:57

Great thread this... Mine was 26,150 new , and paid £1200 for it .. :}

LeRich 22nd June 2013 06:26

I've worked mine it out for my ZT:

ZT+ 135 CDTi Turbo Automatic (131Ps) £21,235

Alcantara £625
Metallic paint £450
Xenon pack £625
18" Straightts £225
Driver's Intelligence Pack £425
Cruise Control £250
Rear wing spoiler £275
Highline Sat Nav inc. TV £2,325
Electric sunroof £550

Total list price £26,985!

Ouch! I paid little over 5% of that with the car not even 10 years old.

okenora 22nd June 2013 23:11

£25890 new......bought and fully repaired to passing MOT standard for the princely sum of £273. OK so it has its faults and rough edges but all minor and nothing affecting its roadworthiness.

Nine years later, I paid the equivalent of 3.6% of its original selling price when I bought it.

Happy..

I just worked out my spec and it's a Connie...All wiring done as per factory, seats and things added as per factory.
I've done the head gasket to be certain, and with all the bits I've put on, it stands me at £450. It won't mean a thing in money terms when I pass it on to my Dad in favour of the ZT. I'm just happy to be driving the quietest 75 on the road for that money.

FLYING BANANA 23rd May 2014 19:47

Great thread, always wondered how much the 75 and ZT would have cost new.

According to this - The Typhoon ZT New as it left the factory was £24,160. With the optional extra's I've added it would have cost £25,810. And once I've added the cruise control and head lamp washers it would have cost £26,285

And according to an online inflation calculator... that is the equivalent of £37,316.81 in today's money!:eek::eek:

1 question - on the optional extra's list for a ZT on first page, is the cost of a Hairpin Alloy at £375 just for the spare, or would the total option cost be £1,500 (£375 x 4) for a whole set + the cost for a full size spare?

The 75 was £26,180 new! But that figure might be slightly out due to the pricing of the connoisseur SE pack's for MKII's.

A19_Graham 29th December 2014 18:05

Would any of these items be an extra on zt-t 180+ se?

I know Poseidon was £2100 (or £2500)
and cruise would be standard but what about :-

Apex (inc spare)
Traction Control
Trafficmaster
Sports Leather

Apex alloys - Standard on SE facelift models

Traction Control was a cost option for the SE, an extra £325

Trafficmaster driver alert was included, but Smartnav was an extra cost option

Black Sports Leather was standard on the SE.

Thanks Mate,

So the spec for the SE was well the worth the extra initial price.

And was Poseidon (Being Chromactive) £2100 or £2500, seen both amount quoted.

Would there have been a charge for the apex spare?

Dorset Bob 29th December 2014 21:59

I have an early price list from the 1st October 1999.
If you compare this to later price lists, the cars were significantly more expensive back then!

VVC-Geeza 29th December 2014 22:04

£23,122 for mine with the options now added.

It seems strange to me that there wasn't a greater take up of some of the perceived more desirable options at New.In the greater scheme of things they seem very reasonable bearing in mind the basic cost of the cars

Powerfolds £125
Rear blind £200
Electric sunroof £525

Sledge 31st December 2014 05:58

I have the invoice for my Connie SE for $75800 (£40,000) in 2004.

I guess at that price the original owner couldn't afford Rain Sensors or Powerfolds. :D

MrDoodles 31st December 2014 09:15

Just bear in mind though, that even before the factory closed, it wasn't difficult to get between 20-25% discount off those prices if you haggled hard! ;)

Thanks Dave!

Back in the days when the Motor Trade had some margins to play with!

I now sell a product that only has a 6% margin and you're supposed to be able to keep the customer happy with discount/over-allowance and make a profit!

Is there a similar price list for the accessories?

I have looked but must be missing it.

Rigginsuk 15th July 2015 13:21

According to the list the original price for my ZT was £22,995
Registered on the 22nd of May 2003.
I purchased it on 27th of June 2015 for £700
Depreciated by £22,255 in 12 years and 1 month.
I don't understand how that is even possible considering the condition of my ZT is absolutely stunning.

Jules 15th July 2015 14:43

Still cheap motoring when you consider my neighbour for example has a new BMW 3 series every 3 years on lease hire

He is paying £380 per month.
Over 12 years that is £54,000
..................for a car he doesn't even own!!!

It's blue and sits next to our blue ZT most of the time.
He takes the mick out of ours how old it is (54 plate)
We take the mick out of his because it's so bland and boring to ride in compared to our ZT.

We have the last laugh :D

maxxpump 15th July 2015 15:32

The car would have cost us...

£22,940, with the following extras:

Automatic Transmission Gearbox = £1,175
15" Crown Alloy Wheel = £129 or 4 fully fitted inc centre caps & Locking Wheel Bolts = £650
6 CD Multichanger = £325
Cruise Control = £225
Electronic Traction Control = £300
Manual Height & Lumbar Adjustment For Front Passenger Seat = £100
ITS Side Impact Protection Airbags = £150
Auxillary Fuel Burning Heater (Diesels only) = £200

We paid £900 for it so we saved around £22,040 Which is a fair bit!when considering the car had only done 90K

The car now has 17" unions on it and a blooming good service of most parts. (so is worth slightly more than its market value to me! (I think about 2.5K).

Jules 15th July 2015 15:38

They must be very rare
17" unions, never seen any :p:

Hi Tom,

I have a Monogram price list brochure here with prices effective from 21st October 2002 and it lists it as £2,500

Mind you, you are getting a roof mounted TFT monitor, TV tuner unit, 10 disc DVD changer and various IR remote controls and IR sensors, along with the cabling involved. It sounds expensive even now, can you imagine how much it would have translated to back in 2002.

Organiser 16th July 2015 14:55

Hi Paul,

Thanks for that, I had a feeling it might be around £2,500 for it.

It's a lot easier to fit when you are building the car from the start then refitting one now!

That makes the cost of my Typhoon ZT-T 190+ circa £31,235 then. :D

so, what is it actually costing per mile?

Fascinating figures. Rapid depreciation with age, which levels out as condition becomes more important than registration plate. Always suspected that, but handy to have some data to back it up. Swings and roundabouts…lose on depreciation, lose on repairs

I see the ZT & ZT-T 260 V8 is only in the Mk.II listing. Mine's one of the 25 Mk.I ZT-T 260 V8s (one of 23 SE models) and the only one in Trophy Blue Metallic, the perfect colour for ZTs and ZT-Ts. I think she was a pretty standard 260 V8 SE without powerfolds or roof rails but with black leather heated electric (non-memory) seats, hi-line sat-nav and TV, rear electric windows, rain sensitive wipers and dimming interior mirror and I think the 18" "straights" were standard. Traction control wasn't available on the Mk.I and I don't believe any 260 V8s had cruise control and fuel consumption was missing from the info. display - and can guess why! I believe the X-Power exhausts were an option too and it was rumoured that the air dam was an X-Power extra as well but it might be an aftermarket accessory, along with the 78mm BBK throttle body (I have the original).

I've seen a brochure somewhere and believe she was around £35k new but cost me £6,500 back in October 2012 without the vanity plate (which I transferred, along with the roof rails, from my ZT-T 190+) I've since added powerfolds and she's obviously appreciating in value these days.
