My dream MG ZT project could become a reality now.

My dream MG ZT could more than a dream now. Someone has already been there and done that. So has been done and someone obviously knows "the ropes" involved.
A Rover T-Series Turbocharged Transplant...into an MG ZT-T. https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...4&d=1579191926 Anyone know more about this very interesting project? |
That looks like a lot of work. Please do a project thread if you go ahead.

I wonder why they wanted an 1800 bottom end?
That looks like a right old lash up to be fair........I wonder what it runs like, a MEMS 1.6 T16 with a distributor, running in a ZT?.....assuming they've used the MEMS 1.6 ECM, the car will not pass a legitimate emission test, nor will any of the instrumentation in the car work correctly. if they've used a MEMS 3 (more likely due to the multiplexing requirements of the car), it would be interesting how the ignition is being handled. You would be better off having a Z&F 200 BHP remap and use the N Series you have hanging about, than fannying on with some dreadful Frankenstein monster like that, beside that, the 600 and XW R8 are far better cars to be fitted with a T16, the ZT doesn't qualify on so many levels....... I'm lost!
Is this not a 1.8T engine, and if it is, what's the deal? |
I think the nissan conversion was better executed.

Saw the owner's post earlier today on facebook and asked him about it. As it is at the moment it won't pass an MOT due to emissions, the ECU side of things is proving to be very tricky.
Power wise expecting 300bhp + when it's finished. Apparently a long term project so probably won't be finished any time soon. |
with engine transplants you can test for MOT emissions on the year of the engine. you need to update DVLA with the new engine details, including any engineers reports. unless the guidance has changed its your choice.
