Anyone seen error code 1520 and 0444 before?

Using Mr Google the 1520 error code seems by consensus to be a "red herring" and is redundant code on our cars. Anyone know differently?

I am also getting a new purge valve error code P 0444 - Purge Control valve circuit open - is this a wiring/connection issue between the ECM and the Purge valve?

Hi Martin,

I'd say you're right. It doesn't appear in RAVE's list for the MEMS engine management at all.

That's the implication, yes. The purge valve receives a 12v supply from underbonnet fuse 1 (yellow/blue wire) which also feeds the crankshaft position sensor so I doubt that there's anything wrong with that! The other purge valve wire is black/orange which goes to the ECM. A good place to start would be reseating the purge valve connector.

Hi Ron,

Lates doesn't give the source of that list but it's certainly not specific to the Rover MEMS or Siemens 2000 codes given in RAVE.

Is this one still giving you grief Martin?

Must be 5-6 years since it first cropped up!

Yep Andy - my code reader always gives 0443 yet this time the garage code reader gives 0444 - i suppose i have passed my MOT's ok means its nothing to worry about but it irks me .:}

Is it that long ?

All MEMS ECM fitted to R49 will read an "Unknown fault code" when read with T4.

Just ignore it it's a red herring ;)

Yes P1520 is a red herring, its something to do with the oil gallery temp on a VVC engine which wasn't removed when the firmware got rewritten.
