Do Front Wings Require Welding?

Had a bit of a prang a while back (My fault - foot slipped off the brake and the car rolled into the back of an SUV) which damaged the front wing, and rather than repair it I've decided to replace it. Is it just a bolt on thing, or is welding involved?

There's a how-to here https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=129705 that tells you how to get it off without removing the bumper, so I assume it's a bolt job.

Fortunately it is a bolt on job how its done with bumper in situ is a mystery but well worth taking the effort to remove bumper and check for further damage that may have taken place. I am sure the ladder section where the bumper latches on has a bolt or two securing the wing to another panel. Hope you sort it out ok.

just a heads up, under the wing at the top there may be some washers.

I did one of mine: very simple job: one of the main virtues of running a R75 I believe.

Grab the chance

As usual , a splendid 'How too' from Arctic . It's mainly an unbolt and re-bolt job but since a new wing is is to be fitted why not grab the opportunity to do the following :-
  • clean up the inside of the new wing , remove and treat any rust then apply a protection . I apply a thick layer of Epoxy resin all along the 'lip' followed by a thick cover of underbody wax across the entire wing.
  • Remove the plastic wheel arch protector and clean / protect the exposed wheel arch area.

Of course , this is all best done in good weather eg Spring / summer but treating the wing can certainly be done in doors / garage now and the rest a few months later ie better weather.

if there are washers under the top bolts on the wing, just take note of how many washers and which bolts they are under.
This way it will go back on just as in factory with correct panel spacing.

Here was one side of mine before I added a bit more paint protection - in good condition for a 14 year old car. :xmas-smiley-008:
