Kaiser Stat setup still running cool
Hi Everyone
I have a MG 190 V6 replaced the plastic stat setup as was having cool running problems, So upgraded to the Kaiser setup which looks great but alas still runs cool around 80 ,Bit disappointed after all the work as i went for the full strip down manifolds off etc ,First time i did the Keyhole method when fitting the plastic replacement but decided i wanted to check and replace all gaskets and any other issues i found. i realise at least i could open the Kaiser stat up to exchange but what with ??? Also im not sure if its possible to replace the stat in metal housing in situ as the nuts on the bottom of the housing look so difficult to hold while you undo the Allen screws, Those nuts should be welded in place to make the job easy to do. |
Kaiser has said that his product is fitted with an 82˚ thermostat so it's inevitable that the engine will run too cool in the UK climate. Unfortunately we now seem to have the same problem with many plastic thermostat housings.

He would know the size of the stat required to give you an idea what to search for.---;) |
Dmgr was doing a replacement thermostat for Kaisers housing.
As i recollect the one i got sent was also a standard unit for another car as it was a brand like “inline” or first line and had the car it was for on the box. The thermostat was a specific size but there should be different temp versions out there. |
We can supply an 87 degree item here if needed: https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/the...47974ca7&_ss=r
Unfortunately they are indeed supplied with an 82 degree item - but I'll see if we can change this going forward. 82 degrees is chosen because it gives a good 'headroom' should anything else go wrong, but in the UK it can lead the car running slightly cooler than ideal. |

We'll try and work on something as an option when purchasing, as while it's best to have a good headroom in terms of operating temperature 80 degrees is just a touch on the cool side. |
