Kv6 high milers
i wonder what the service history book for the diesel engined 75 and mgs goes up to for service history stamps. i have never owned a diesel but saying that we have moon milers on here for the diesel engine. most petrol engines usually list service stamps up to around 160.000 miles. what evidence have we got member wise of kv6 owners racking up high miles on here. ? we know that the diesel owners will have high milers as they are bought usually for high miles intended use. twenty two years have past now on the kv6 engines so we must have a few high milers on here by now. just looking at life expectancy for the old girl and me of course ..

I'm not actually a high KV6 miler despite my figure : exactly 190,000 today but I'm cheating: they are km! That makes 118k mls only.
But I'm not playing the game: I don't want to be so soon an high miler because I would love to keep my pride and joy as long as possible... :p: |
bob (flying banana) has got intergalactic miles on his 1.8 petrol but i think he has had head gasket rebuild jobs in the past.not sure about bottom end rebuild but its certainly encouraging. we kv6 boys have the pleasure of double top gasket and heads rebuild.

The moon club has Christopher's 190 KV6 at 229k

any major surgery at that milage ? im still trying to work out the lifespan of an auto box on a rover 75 petrol. the manual zt version engines 190 would no doubt have a more higher reving life with manual box and vis motors for a sporty drive. so i am assuming that the rover 75 kv6 2.5 auto would lean itself to being the most likely to achieve high miles driven reasonably. downside would be autobox milage which we dont see any records of on the diesel moon milers ...

The autoboxes are fine Stefan, just change the fluid every couple of years and all will be well.

Mine has had 2 engine replacements so far at 115k miles so I can't say I've had the best luck with my KV6 but my mates has a Y reg with 140k miles and it runs beautifully in fact it's a smoother and more potent than mine that it's latest engine has 60k miles. As far as the automatic gearbox goes in I've had a 2,4 brake duty solenoid failure which I mended myself no further problem after that

My 1.8t is on 212,100 miles. Has suffered HGF, 4 times, but the head has been off 5 times. The turbo and clutch are the original ones. As far as I'm aware the bottom end is all original.
