Anyone know the history of this car?
 

I've just bought a 75 2.5 V6 auto for my daughter however with no service history she isn't going drive it until the belts get done or I find out they don't need changing. It's BX5400D and apparently the previous owner was in Leicester, Anyone on here know anything about this cars past history?

I suggest you check https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk - input the reg number and will give you all the mot history. From looking myself has had quite a few bits on advisor which will need fixing

Thanks for that but I have the MOTs back to 2013, what worries me more is a V6 on 120,000 miles with no record of a cam belt change.

I had the same problem with my latest 75. Only 62 thousand miles but no history of cam belt being changed. You might get away with it but if it goes it's game over. £600 cost me to replace mine last month

It always amazes me that one of our cars should fail on a light out issue when we have the warning system on the dash ! :shrug:

Can't understand anyone who would present a car for a MOT without checking obvious things like lights first.

It doesn't bodes well for how well a car has been looked after.

To the OP - you can apply to the DVLA for copies of all the old V5s using a V888 form. Fill it in, post it off with a £5 cheque and after a few weeks you'll receive an envelope. You'll then have the names and addresses of the previous owners who you can then write to.

Being a BX54 reg I expect the car may have been registered at Longbridge, possibly as a fleet/press/managers car as my old ZT was. Is it particularly well specced?

Yes, it has sunroof, leather, heated memory seats, message centre, auto dimming mirror, HK audio, Sony roof mounted DVD player, headlight washers, cruise, traction control, parking sensors and rear sunblind. I'll try the V888, thanks.

Just get the belts changed by one of the forum-recognised mechanics. Then you'll have certain peace of mind for six years or ninety thousand miles, if you follow the factory recommended maintenance schedule.
