I am puzzled why both GCSE and A levels exams were not carried out as normal and thus the present difficulties and misery would have been avoided.

For instance, these exams are normally carried out with desks at least as far apart as social distancing. so no problems at that stage. When entering or exiting the exam hall this could have be done by one row at a time thus maintaining distance etc. Each student could have easily had temperature taken on entering by quick forehead method. Antiseptic sprays available at entrance and exits.

If thought necessary, adjustments could have been made for loss of term time or curriculum and the result would have been pretty well as normal.

No heartache for students and no subsequent knickers in a twist for Education authorities.

Just a thought!

Also, with the rest of the school being closed under lockdown, there would have been lots of empty classrooms to allow even more space per pupil, plus lots of school staff at home (not just teachers!) to come in to invigilate.

But isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing....

sounds as if some students that did not get the grades they want are going to sue.

I wonder if anyone got better grades then expected and if they will sue.

I thought the whole point about exams/tests etc. was to see how much you know. Not how much you can Google.

There's always been hundreds/thousands of students who didn't get the grades they wanted/deserved/should have got/might have got/etc. but that's the way it goes.

Knuckle down and get studying. The university or wherever can be applied for next year when you get the grades they require.

And as for suing someone :duh::duh:. Ah, sorry, I temporarily forgot.... It's ALWAYS someone else's fault.

Schools closed end of March? Exams would have been held end of May/June? Now if my memory serves me the time between would mostly have been revision time? So no reason for them to have not sat the exams. Plenty space, plenty teachers, plenty time.

It would have probably been quite feasible for all GCSE and A level students to have attended school from March onwards continually seeing as that would have meant perhaps only a 20% occupancy in most schools, so plenty of space for social distancing etc.

Those schools such as sixth form only, could have made adjusted arrangements.

Curriculums could have been maintained, exams taken as usual and all present problems readily avoided.

Every Government scours universities for some of the brightest people in the Country, do they not deliver or, more likely they are they not listened to.

This is not political, all parties seem to be often inept when in power.

Bit of thinking outside the box required sometimes methinks.

Due to the unmitigated success of the Algorithm used by the Government in calculating the exam results for students, they are to introduce a similar Algorithm on roads with a history of speeding, and issue random speeding tickets to motorists that may have used the roads if there had been no lockdown. The subsequent lack of traffic on these roads has resulted in significant revenue loss...and Government need to make the losses good.

Not true of course...yet !! But that example highlights the idiocy that has caused so much stress and upset to those preparing to enter the real world, and al that comes with it. :eek::eek:

Is that also known as UEA? Been there got the T-shirt. Literally it says "I Read the Beano at UEA".

I didn't read the Beano there of course, if I recall there where a lot of geese there when I attended.
