They are very therapeutic,

If you stroke them just right you get a very reassuring purr:xmas-smiley-007:

Not looking as professional as your photo's Jeff, but here are my 4....

They look a very contented lot Bill :)

The chances of me getting all my lot in one photo ( not counting the shop cats of course ) are very unlikely, best I've managed so far is three and that was just a snapshot rather than a posed/setup photo!

This was a stray girl that we rescued at the shop,

We couldn't keep her as she didn't get on with the other shop cats so she went to the rescue and was found a new home.
She is apparently doing very well and her new human loves her to bits:Snow:

GeraintUK 5th December 2014 00:42

surpringly yes.
Marmite adores Gizmo and she puts him in his place by clamping onto his nose like the Alien face hugger ;)
Alfie is too excited and clumsy when he sees her like he is with humans, he seems to love all people and other animals but it's sometimes to his detriment as he's so big and strong, but yet daft as a brush and clumsy and feels like he's smacked you with a baseball bat with those lanky legs :Snow:

Just found an old photo of "Higgins", the Bull Terrier we used to have in Zimbabwe.

He was such a lovely dog, and always kept a watchful eye on our daughter, (now 28) when we were out walking or waiting outside the local shops.... Everyone gave him a wide birth...lol. But he never barked or growled at anyone! Just looked.... ;)

Willow

Introducing Willow,

Willow is a rescue cat, she was abandoned at our local cat and dog shelter whilst pregnant, she had her kittens and as always everyone was keen to adopt a Kitten, well we fell for her, and agreed to adopt as soon as we met her.
She is estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old, a relatively small cat but with wonderful markings.

We had to wait until Willow's kittens had been re-homed and her milk had dried up prior to her been spayed and injections brought up to date.

A lot of people sound shocked when you say you are 'paying' to adopt a cat, in Willows case £80 but this is a small cost at ensuring she has a medical, injections and spayed and it also helps to support the local shelter.

Anyway she is settling in nicely after weeks of been cooped up in a relatively small area, with noises and smells of many dogs and cats, she is lavishing the peace and warmth of the house.

Hi Keith,

Willow looks like the cat that has got the cream, she is gorgeous and looks totally contented in her new home :)

We also make a charge for adopting a cat at the rescue, it is run entirely on donations and the money contributes towards the cats ongoing welfare including food, shelter and veterinary costs:Snow:

Don't forget the photo of Scrappy as well:)

I had a Black Lab for sixteen years called Ebony although we all called her Bonnie.

I still miss her loads even though she has been gone nearly 15 years .
I'll see if I can scan some photos of her in and post them up :Snow:

Hi Jeff, I will get a picture of stinky (Scrappy) and post it up tomorrow. The eldest, Smokey is off to the vets tonight to have her eye pressures taken. She has to go every month since it was first diagnosed 6 months ago.

Hi Scrappy, welcome aboard the Pets Corner photo gallery :)

Glad to see you are best friends with your feline companions as well ;)

PaulPJ 10th December 2014 07:54

Cheers Jeff. He is certainly one for the ladies. There are times when he is cuddled up with Smudge and washing her that I tell them to 'get a room'.

Sorry to hear that Graham, it's not easy as our pets very much become part of the family.

Bonnie has been gone around 15 years but I still miss her loads.
My situation with work etc doesn't really mean I can have another dog but I'd like to think that in the future I will.......cat friendly one of course ;)

Of Course :)

Never owned a cat, but love all animals tbh.

If we did (and its not something I'm thinking off right now, too raw) get another Dog, it would be a rescue Dog.

SWMBO Is a housewife, so there's always someone home :)

Yeah they're certainly part of the family, we don't have children, so Fur Babies are our equivalent.

Here's my Babies.

After a nice day at the Blue Lagoon.

Megan (The Youngest on the Left) and Lady (On the right).

What was difficult with Megan, was I took her the Vets a week or so ago, after she developed a bit of a limp and he commented on how healthy she was, and no hip dysplasia or anything.

Did Blood Tests, and then back for an X-ray. And he virtually said, we needed to have her put to sleep virtually immediately. I told him I had to take her home for a couple of days, to try and come to terms with it all.

They were both a Joy, neither of them one bit of bother.

She had a huge Tumour, pretty much from her spine to the bottom of her belly. Too large to be removed.

Couldn't be seen externally, that was the reason they needed a scan, and the reason her leg had went "lame".

She had shown no symptoms at all, didn't go off her food, or anything. Poor Beggar.

I asked, if there was any way that we could have known, and he said other than having regular scans, with no prompts, Not really.

This was last week.

So its been a right year of it all in all.

Looks like more surgery on the Wrist eminent too. So almost a year of physio, only to start again. And the cold is really giving me an idea of what the arthritis will have in store. At 35 years old too :icon_cry:.

Thanks Jeff and to you and yours too. :christmas:

Got a bit of a Lump in the throat posting the pics to tell you the truth :icon_cry:

When we lost lady, it was quite expected, as she had quite a few ailments for many years (Cost about 15k in the last 4 years of her life in vet bills).

But Megan was so sudden, but yeah you're right about the suffering. Was just hard, as aside from the leg, she was behaving her normal happy self.

I had a tribute tattoo on my chest after Lady (not a pic of her, as I wouldn't trust it to look like her), and I'm booked in next week for a few hours pain, for a matching one for Megan. Not to everyone's tastes I know, but, I like to know that they're sort of still part of me for life. I'll post a pic when Its all done :)

Sorry Geoff, No pussycats for us this time..

As per title really, After being without the patter of tiny paws for a few months and me now being at home all day we decided to hunt out a dog.

After a few meetings and disappointments, tomorrow I am off to sunny Colchester to pick up this bundle of fluff (but not a little bundle). His name is Marley and he's a 2yr old bear headed American Akita, grown up with kids around (6 at one point). He's only been with his current family a week, but tbh they messed up as they have a male Akita already and you don't put boys with boys. I expect it to be hard going initially but hopefully after a few weeks they'll be one more permanent member to the Richardson household.

http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...505bc583-1.jpg

He's a little underweight atm at 100Lbs :eek: so we'll have to get him fed up a little, but you can see his size next to the washing machine. Kids love him already and they only met him for 30 mins :}

I'll try for a better pic tomorrow if he lets me :D

Not that terrible all things considered, the other one eats 15kg of dried every six weeks and it costs roughly £45 if you get the 15kg bags. Plus obviously the treats etc.

I said the the wife & kids if you want him it'll be Maccy D's & a meal out every month not every fortnight like now and they said ok. Whether that happens of course is another issue :)

This chap will defo be insured though, after spending nigh on £800 on Marco the moggy only for him to have to be put to sleep due to something else three months later was somewhat of a kick in the teeth, Especially as he was only 2yrs old. :(

Agreed, Super cute he is :)

Cheers Jeff, He's obviously been trained well in the home, doesn't beg or hover when you have food etc.

This was him earlier as I was dishing up a full on roast dinner, Only problem atm is that his sin bin cage takes up so much room, but I don't think we'll ever have to use it tbh so we'll put it away soon..This was also before we'd given him his dinner so I would have expected him to be making a nuisance of himself really ;)

Our two BC's, this last summer. The bigger one is Charlie 9 year old and the big brother of the other one, Shayleigh who is 2 year old. He is a BC / Newfoundland cross. She is all BC and quite tiny for a BC less than half his size. He is as soft as they come, she is trouble from the time she wakes up. Teases me, him, or anyone in range. She starts the arguments, then hides behind him when the fur starts to fly.

Both are absolutely great with kids..

Both have blue merl socks, she has it on her snout too, but his litter sister was all over blue merl, but very sadly died at just 3 years of age. She was absolutely brilliantly clever. She would watch TV and recognise what she saw, she taught herself to open the cars electric windows, unlatch the house internal doors, she even worked out how to undo the window catches on the caravan windows to get out. These two are not nearly has clever.

Rhana our aged German Shepherd (12 when the pic was taken, she is sadly no longer with us), and Boris the Borzoi puppy aged 6 months. The "puppy" now weighs 50 kilos and stands 34 inches at the shoulder.

The running costs aren't a problem - The Borzoi spends 22 hours a day in his bed watching the world go by, and 2 X 30 minute sessions of absolute mayhem (walks, or chasing anything that moves) a day keeps him happy, so he doesn't burn up a lot of fuel........... it's the servicing costs (aka Vet bills) which make your eyes water

We lost our old girl yesterday. She was almost 19 and had many health issues and she couldn't take it any more. She is badly missed by myself, my wife and the 3 remaining cats. RIP Smokey

Hi Paul,

So sorry to hear your sad news,
She must have lived a lovely life with your family and passed away with all the love that surrounded her.
Our thoughts and wishes are with you and your family.

Lovely photos Harry,
They look a great pair together:}

He spends a lot of time stood at our gate, watching the world go by. He usually gives a good morning bark to the other dogs as they walk by. She has to spoil it by going berserk with the barking, when she is out there.

I'm the one charged with giving a quick tap on the front window, when the barking gets out of hand and waggling a finger. Both understand and come bounding back up the drive.

Cheers Jeff. She had pretty well given up, she wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink and wouldn't even use the litter box as when she walked she fell over. Den and I discussed it saturday night and Den got an emergency appointment yesterday afternoon. It was quite weird as the others where fussy me at 3:25 and when Den got back from the vets she said she went to sleep at 3:25. The others must have known somehow. She had 18 wonderful years with us and was loved dearly. Thats 3 ladies we've lost now since November last year.

Cheers Jeff, they are pretty much inseparable and have been since we brought Barney home. Barney will happily ambush anything that is near him be that Ronnie or my trouser leg, he has a particular fondness for socks:shrug:If left to his own devices he would eat every sock in the house.

that's Kitty lol. they love to hate each other. I should add, after Tom went out one day, he got lost for a week, and now is incredibly nervous of being outside. and gets lost and confused easily, so now neither get out, except on a harness, secured to ask plant pot and just in the back yard. he is not like a normal cat, behaving more like a dog, playing fetch, meeting me at the door after work, and sleeping under my legs when sitting on the sofa.

he loves the smell of chopped onions too, and can be difficult to keep him away. his eyes water like ours do Attachment 46471

one of the bizarre things he does that we cannot seem to stop, (he won't use a covered litter tray) is when he urinates, half way through he begins to walk forward, whilst still urinating, all the way out of the box. there is absorbant material in front, just in case we don't get to him in time (we would just stand in front of him, when we do, calmly talking to him) there are two boxes by the way, and both cats share them but for Opposite business lol.

She sure is a character. Loves nothing more than sleeping inside our dressing gowns, but only when we're wearing them lol

coolcat 21st March 2015 13:47

Thought it might have been Kitty but her bib looked bigger/fluffier so I modified my post in case I looked more silly than usual;)

Off to the cat rescue in a short while so will post up any new Puddy tat arrivals in the little balls of fluff thread on here :}
