Clutch - coming to the end of my tether

clutch when last august, replace pressure plate master and slave, all was ok until about a month ago (10,000 miles)
I went to put the car in reverse, I heard a very faint pop, then no clutch at all.
I’ve replaced the pressure plate, slave cylinder and master, everything torqued up correctly, bled with pressure bleeder, pedal not solid but ok (as previously when it worked). When I put it in gear and lift pedal, I just get a grinding sound and no movement. Re-bled but the same.
Can anyone suggest where i’m going wrong, before it goes for scrap
Any help grateful received.

That happened to a mk2 Escort I had. The friction plate had seperated into 2 parts. Might be worth checking the gear cables are properly secure before removing the box again, just incase. Don't let it beat you into scrapping it, though we've all thought it at times.

I’ve checked cables, as a bit of a last resort. The gearbox has be off 3 times in the last 10 months. last time took the subframe off and replaced lower arms, its got a brand new metal slave cylinder that not moved the car. I don’t mind spending money on the car (spent £1000+) as I love it, but p**sed off doing the same jobs over and over again and MG Rover don’t like making things easy.

Just a thought has a driveshaft popped out that is not unknown

As above post.---Drive shaft.---Try not to grind too much off the splines before you re-fit it.---:eek::eek::eek:

Well worth checking that a driveshaft hasn’t popped out of the gearbox (probably n/s), especially as the ‘box has been off a few times.

Yes I had, I was pointing out it is most likely to be the nearside driveshaft joint that has popped out. :duh: :duh:
