Want to check the spec of your Rover 75?
To help members correctly identify the precise trim level of their vehicles, I have compiled an exhaustive list of factory options specific to each model of car.
If you want to check the Spec of the MG ZT and not the Rover 75 Click Here With the help of fellow member Duotone, we have gone through the MGR brochures for each of the 7 years of production, and can now present the “standard” fit for Classic, Club, Connoisseur & Contemporary……..however, as most of you know, our cars were almost infinitely adaptable at build level depending on what the customer ordered, so your particular vehicle may not perfectly match the standard SE or non SE spec, but at least you’ll discover what extra bits were asked for over and above the basic model. wow what a mamoth task you two have undertaken, absolutely brilliant, well done guys personally I think your article should be locked and made into a sticky for easy reference in the future.

Very well done, a very useful Post for many members Queries.

Nice work,
But can I point out a couple of corrections. From Jan '05 All Connoisseur models got leather seats as standard. They also got twin illuminated vanity mirrors as well. I'm not sure whether they got ITS (side pillar airbags) as standard or if this was still an option. However my car does have ITS but doesn't have any other items from the Connoisseur pack. As you say the ITS could have been a custom option. But I know the leather and vanity mirrors (and driver's grab handle) were all re-introduced as standard fit. |
Excellent informative post - cheers ;)
|
Thanks for the hard work guys, will try and work out the factory extras on mine later :)
|

I've amended the post accordingly. But, according to the 2005 brochure it quotes.."cloth headlining with THREE grab handles", so I guess your driver's grab handle was added as an optional extra  |
I have copied the main thrust of this thread into the the Tech forum and made it sticky and locked it, I have also altered the title there slightly to compliment the extensive posts by Kandyman on the same subject from January 2007. His posts were sans pretty pictures.
Thanks for all the work put into this, a first class job. http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...splay.php?f=11 |

Have added Self levelling Suspension (Tourer) as extra on Conn SE 2004 onward, Traction Control came fitted as Standard I think on mine, will check Receipt. (Both fitted to mine). :D
|
What a comprehensive study.
Thanks for the hard work :D |
Excellent work Reebs and well worth keeping as a sticky.
Just a thought. Maybe it's it appropriate to add the facelift monogram options? Quite a lot of them though, including interior, exterior, ICE and alloys. Tom |

Where did you get this information from? All the 2004 Facelift brochure mentions regarding suspension is as follows: "MacPherson strut front suspension with coil springs, gas filled dampers and anti-roll bar" "Z-axle rear suspension with coil springs and gas-filled dampers" and "Rear anti-roll bar on V6 saloons and all tourer models" All of the above are common to ALL facelift derivatives. I can find no reference to self levelling suspension anywhere. While I appreciate that as a moderator you have the ability to access members posts & amend them if needed, I would have hoped you might have checked with me first before adding material. You could well be right about self levelling suspension, but what about whether it applies to the Connoisseur SE alone or was part of the Connoisseur SE Pack option, or indeed was it available to the Contemporary or Classic cars? I have spent the best part of two weeks researching the data for this thread to try and make it as accurate as possible.......was I wasting my time I wonder :mood: With regard to the Traction control, again I looked very hard to find any reference to it in the facelift literature while I was compiling the thread but could not find anything, I had therefore concluded that it was no longer fitted to these cars. Can you confirm that you do have the Traction Control disable switch as one of the five below the ATC controls. All Fully loaded switch packs that I have seen have 2 heated seat switches, cruise control, smartnav button and on saloons the rear sunblind. Rant over now :sissy: |
Adding to thread
I have to agree with Reebs.
The only 75's fitted with traction control as standard are the Connoisseur and Contemporary 4.6 V8.. Self leveling suspension. I quote from the 2004 brochure no. 6269 and the 2005 brochure no.6340. "Sports Pack. sports suspension with 17" Star Spoke alloy wheels." [not available on the Tourer if self-leveling suspension from the Monogram has been chosen].. Dave T |
My 03' Club CDT has the dual aircon setup not the ATC aircon which I thought came in the model above the CDT SE?
|
Whose got my powerfolds ? I have a 24 Jan 2005 conny se but no powerfolds which according to this should be standard fit on facelifts from Jan 05!
Must have been end of Jan as i have missed out. But what a fabulous post and well done ! |

Also listed in the Connoisseur standard equipment: 15 inch 'Crown' alloy wheels (available until 2002) when they were repaced by the 'Comet' ones. Sadly you missed out on the Rain sensing wipers by a year, they must still have been a glint in the MGR designers eye at the time :( But your car looked "fully loaded" to me when I saw it at Beaulieu the other month. Spend that little bit more and get an 05 Conn. |
A lot of cars had extras fitted as options to the original Owner.
I know I had nearly everything added. Missing from the list is the 8 Speaker System that came on the Conn Se if fitted with the sat Nav for some reason. The HK upgrade was also available and on the Saloon and Tourer separate Amp and the Bass speaker in Load area side if the Tourer. Load Cover was in 2 Options Cover only and cover and Net. |

brilliant post, have copied the image of my personal line interior colour. thats great seeing all seats together.
i was wondering over the weekend if anyone has copied of orginal sales brochures etc scanned? i'd like to see the sales pitch for the personal line stuyff and the 75's in general regards paul |
while reading my owners manaul i see that the car learns your driving style wow .i must have the fully loaded version then as i have 2 front heated seats ,and a full leather interior.:D
|
Just wondering why this thread and the colour's thread are not "sticky" anymore
|
I've got a question I was hoping someone can help me with.
My car is a facelift Conn SE auto and all the relevant trim items listed on this thread are in my car, except under 'SE' it says 'Wooden gear knob' which my car does not have. Is this because the automatics did not get wooden gear knobs? Otherwise I assume some previous owner must have had it replaced for a plastic one for some reason... It's just for my curiosity really - if the car was built with a wooden one I'd try to have the current plastic one replaced with a wooden one. Oh, the wood in my car is light oak, if that makes any difference. Thanks, Chris |
From all 75's we sold back in 2005/6 (qty 100 or so !)
My findings were as follows: Facelift Manual SE's were issued with Light Oak gearknob. Facelift Auto's were fitted with Black leather Knob All our stock was either ex company/fleet vehicles so I can only assume they were bog standard as issued from the factory, as I doubt whether a company car owner would spend his/her own money on extras ! http://lh6.ggpht.com/_CloltyGrcac/Sv...24/jma1263.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_CloltyGrcac/Sv...uise%20668.JPG |
Thanks for that! Yup, my car's interior looks just like the photo you posted of the automatic.
I don't know why I wrote 'plastic', it is indeed leather, oh well at least I knew what I meant... Cheers  |
This guide is excellent!
Now I know why my wife's 2002 1.8 club has more features than my Jag - She has the drivers intelligence pack and the Xenon pack too! Andy. |

I think I read in another post that someone saved this type of info as a PDF file. Does anyone know how to do that because I would like to keep this one. Thanks. |

As for the oil cooler radiator not being in the way.. The same thing happened when the diesel auto was introduced in 2001. The front fog lamps were not fitted due to pipework being in the way. In 2002 the pipework was moved but a small number of diesel autos left Longbridge with the pipework moved but still no foglamps fitted.. Dave T |

The big clue Guys is whether your front wheel arch has a fluted vent just below the headlamp hatch.
LH on Early Diesel Auto RH on Early 1.8 Autos If no vents, then your Auto Car is fitted with the later type cooler which is no where near the front bumper. The later design cooler is rearward of the main radiator (seen in lower front of engine bay and relies on Main Radiator cooling fan instead of it's own) Are people saying that they have successfully fitted fog lamps to Cars with early styled coolers with no fowling, as i didn't think this was possible. |

lol im a ****** for adding things to cars. Thanks for the heads up
|
I have just read this exhaustive list, well done!
A couple of amendments - Projector headlamps were introduced from October 2002 as one of a number of new features for the 2003 Model Year cars, and Sports suspension was available (although not actively publicised beyond the sales literature and price lists) on pre-facelift examples from approximately November 2004. The alloys wheels Y Spoke, Broad Spoke and Cross Spoke for 2000, were announced in 1999 through the sales literature but became available in the late autumn of that year. This, together with some of the trim levels, was done as part of a phased introduction. |
Good extra info, thanks.
Re: the projector headlamps, my September 02 registered 2003 year model connoisseur SE has these fitted, and according to the EPC they were available from VIN number 261240, which is an approximate build date of the first week of August 2002. |
Quote:
That said, I don't think any Mk.1's have appeared with sports suspension. Sports suspension was a £660 option on the Facelift 75 from introduction in January 2004. The Y Spoke [£749], Broad Spoke [£699] and the Cross Spoke [£749] alloys are shown in the March 1999 Approved Accessories brochure AKM 703 so were available from the introduction of the 75. Dave T |
Quote:
I am guessing that the three mentioned alloy wheel designs were promoted in the time of the 75's launch (June 1999) but were not available immediately at launch (along with a few trim level and engine combinations) due to the need for a phased introduction, as the 75's sales launch in the UK coincided with those for other market territories. I would think they were officially made available from September 1999 onwards at a time when the 2000 Model Year full lineup was entering production and the model had been launched in the majority of its market territories. |

Do any of the 75's have Traction Control
Guys, I'm wondering if it's the ZT's that only have traction control or is it in some of the 75's?
|
It was an extra cost option for both 75s and ZTs. It would have cost an extra £300 @ 2001 prices, and went up to £325 by 2003.
I have it on both my 75 V6 and ZT 180 SE Sports Auto |
Good grief.

:drool4:Hi Reebs,
What's the best engine mods for this car? I'm an bout to purchase a very special 180se £4,500, and yes this is expensive, however, its an absolute cracker. 56,000 miles FSH and spec'd up to the hilt I'm not a car freak but value you're expert view point. Andrew75 |
Hi Andrew, well at the end of the day, a car is only worth what you are prepared to pay for it, and if it's in clean condition you'll get a lot of car whatever the price. If it's any help, when I bought my ZT 180 SE with SE pack Monogram back in 2010, I paid around £4000 for it.
The engine itself doesn't need for any mods really, just make sure the Power and Balance VIS motors are working properly. We have a club VIS tester available and that very nice Mr Stocktake who can set you on the road to some working motors if you find they are duff. My 180 is extremely powerful and responsive when I put the pedal to the floor, more so than my V6 75, but then it's designed to be different for that reason. When you get it, be sure to post some pictures so we can admire your new ride. |
Very Useful Information
Thank you for going to the effort of doing this. As a total newbie to the Rover 75 thing, I find this a very useful guide. I don't have a Rover 75 yet but this will give me quite a grounding in what I should be seeing when I view various ads.

Shouldn't there be a "Thank You" button somewhere...? |
There is .........I just pressed it above ;)
|
It certainly shows how mean MGR were on the specs list towards the end! Even the top of the line contemporary SE didn't come with cruise control as standard! Even the mid-line Vectra of the era came with Cruise and info panels!! You really did need to tick every box to get a competitively specced car which would have ended up being super pricey!
|
My March (registered) 2005 1.8 Connie SE doesn't have cruise control or powerfold mirrors.:duh: Unless I just haven't found the switches yet!

In Belgium these trim levels like Club, Connoisseur are not used.
I remember my 75 Tourer CDT Auto bought new was sold as a Sterling edition, based on the facts here it looks equal to Connie SE. It also has rear parking sensors, message center IP, auto dim rear view mirror, known as the 'Driver’s Intelligence Pack'. No tracion control, no GPS Strange they used other names for the trim level outside UK? |
WOW, so much information many thanks for taking the time and trouble researching and posting this info and detail. Thank you

Hey Paul !
After all these years I came across one the other day with the Analogue 4 heater control knobs. I've only seen the 3 knob version. 4 knob version has his and hers temp settings. Can't see a photo at top of this thread ? |
Yes, I've seen the four knob version at a meet once, but they must be quite rare as I don't believe there are any pictures in the brochures showing them
|
The 4 knob Aircon control was fitted to the Club model. The Club SE got the full climate control.

Speaker in drivers footwell above the accelerator pedal
Rover 75 05 Plate Tourer having a major D check and upon removing the trim above the drivers feet uncovered a 3 inch speaker with corresponding grill.
Does anyone know what this speaker is for? Dai |
Traffic Master or Smartnav.
Press the console button and normally the female voice will say.... Guidance not active. |
Fantastic work. Thank you for you time and effort compiling this..

New Connie SE owner
Just spent a pleasurable couple of hours reading through this thread, and a big thank you for all the information contained. Started off querying why I’ve no wood trim steering wheel , and with that question answered continued on reading the thread.
Many thanks 👏👏 By the way…..anyone out there got a wood trimmed steering wheel ? |
Do you want it with smokestone or sandstone leather?
I'll see what I've got. Email me [email protected] 👍 |
My 2002/52 1.8 club se has manual leather seats, but also faux leather rather than brushed fabric cloth on the door cards. Not seen this on other cars. I'm pretty sure it's original. Is that a thing?
|
Nope, that was never a factory trim option. I suspect a previous owner has had them retrimmed.
|
Fascinating, thank you. Bought at 60 000 miles with FSH and no other modifications. Never been smoked in and roof lining perfect. Have had front driver and rear passenger door cards off and did not spot any evidence of retrimming. Will look again and take photos. What a great thread this is. Thank you.
