Rover Premium Bumper

Hi Members.

I have just aquired my second face lifted Rover 75 v6 2006 registered. I intend in the new year to fit both of my cars with the premium bumper, I already have three bumper shells. I know there has been interest in this bumper, but it is impossible to obtain the chrome surround. Automotive high grade chrome mesh can be used as the grill material, but the chrome surround is the limiting factor on fitting this bumper. ( I know that the Chinese premium bumper can be had with an MG chrome projection. But like any Rover owner, they want something that looks like the original car.

In the new year I intend to make GRP moulds to reproduce the surround and then they can either be painted or as I intend to so with mine, have them vehicled wrapped in heat formable chrome film, this will make the surround almost identical to the orginial Rover surround.

Anybody else interest in this project?

Yes I would be interested.

Evening Gents, :}

Just wanted to let you know that this is also being looked into. I've been talking with member JoshJoshua from Estonia who has succesfully created the surround. He's got two chromed and coming to me shortly in the UK and should have them fitted for people to look at over Christmas.

Just uploading the pics now for you to have a look at, of one fitted to his car.

Cheers Rob,

Pricings I believe depend on the number ordered, the tricky part is getting other parts needed namely, the 'mesh' trims. I thought we'd got this sorted as the MG7's are nigh on the same, but Steve informed me that you can only buy them with the surround you have fitted and not seperately.

What I'm hoping is to be able to borrow a set and see if we can find a similar style mesh to copy on to.

The rest of it seems ok, although anyparty interested will have to make foglight mounts themselves as they seem unavailable. Along with bumper foams - what did you end up doing with yours on that front out of interest?

managed to get the fog mounts in the end from damaged bumpers so lucky, the foam infills are the same that were in my Mk 2 bumper trimmed to fit

That is lucky, having spoken with Steve the other weekend I think we'll end up fabricating ours! That's handy news on the foam from though - thanks for that mate. :}
