New to mg
Looking at buying a zt190

Seen a couple one is a cat c. I think its previous door damage, but no report has an mot and drives ok.

What do you all think should I buy a cat c or not bother ?

It’s going to be more common now to find nice cars of a certain age with a mark against them. Cracked bumper and it’s written off.
Personally I would be happy to buy such a car if it’s in good condition and good history. I would be more worried if it was a 3 or 4 year old car. That means it’s been in a pretty horrific collision and not economical to repair which means a lot of structural repairs.
Find out when and why and then make your decision.

Given the age of our cars the slightest bump will probably be enough to write it off , if you like the car , buy it and enjoy it :}

If the car is within distance go see and really have a good look underneath and up above the suspension; check out the damage and judge for yourself if you can deal with it. If it's not nearby, there is a section on here where people can check it out for you. I bought a Mini convertible a few years ago that was Cat C, in a storm a tree had damaged the roof and a new roof from BMW was over £5k.

I bought the car for £1800, a used roof from the bay for £600 and half a days work. I sold it a couple of weeks later with a new MOT for £4500. The new owner was so pleased as a similar car with no Cat C was over £6k

Take a good look at the car you are thinking of buying, do the doors have even gaps and shut as they should. Take it for a road test and make sure it drives straight with no hands on the wheel.

Make sure your insurance company wont load you for driving a car with a Cat C, some charge extra.
